Uber Eats Launches In Denmark! Greece, Romania, Norway, More To Follow - But A Business Taps Out?

It’s a whirlwind of news and information with Uber Eats lately. First, it has gone live in Denmark, a first in Europe, and more countries will follow soon. But, did Just Eat Takeaway just bow out? Here’s the scoop.

Uber Eats now live in Denmark!

Denmark and the Danish people are celebrating right now as Uber Eats, a leading food delivery app in the USA, has gone live in the northern European country.

It is the first in a series of fresh market entries in the prosperous continent. To follow suit are the following countries:

  • Greece
  • Romania
  • Norway
  • Finland
  • Romania
  • Czech Republic

This is really a historic affair for an American brand, and with the way the interface of Uber Eats works, for sure, the European people are going to love it.

Matthew Price, the regional general manager of Uber Eats, told Ridesharing Forum, “Danes now have a new way to discover and order from their favorite restaurants. We believe it’s important that both consumers and restaurants have more choice. Our goal is to offer a reliable, easy-to-use experience, while being an attractive partner to restaurants, offering them another way to reach customers and grow profitably.”

He added that Denmark is among “the most digital and dynamic markets” of Europe, with really high expectations for quality, convenience, and value. The company is seeing clear demand, and they’re launching things with Uber One, offering benefits such as zero-delivery fees and cashback across deliveries and Uber rides. That’s marvelous!

Price added, “We’re starting in Copenhagen, with Aarhus and Odense later this April, and this is just the beginning. We look forward to expanding across Denmark and into groceries, while staying focused on the Eaters and partners we serve.”

Uber Eats is a food delivery app first seen in the United States, offering food deliveries and grocery deliveries with a simple tap. For more delivery news, keep it locked right here on Ridesharing Forum!

“Denmark is one of the region’s most advanced and dynamic markets, with strong digital adoption and a vibrant food culture. It’s exactly the kind of market where we believe we can add value by bringing more choice for consumers and new opportunities for restaurants,” the Uber Eats deputy and regional general manager stated, too.

Just Eat Takeaway exits Denmark

Previously, Just Eat Takeaway existed in Denmark. This time, it has exited. Face palm.

Earlier this year, Just Eat Takeaway announced its plan to close its operations in Denmark.

Things have been confirmed, and operations of this platform in the European country will conclude by the end of this month, April 30th. An employee consultation process shall happen beforehand, though.

“While we have a proud 25-year history in Denmark, we have been navigating challenging circumstances. This intention reflects the business’ commitment to drive efficiencies and focus on building strong and sustainably profitable positions, while delivering the best experience for customers, partners, and couriers,” a representative for Just Eat Takeaway noted.

But, it’s not really a farewell, farewell. This is since Just Eat Takeway will join Uber Eats in Denmark, so it’s like sharing an umbrella.
