Uber Eats is playing “The White Lotus” in its new ad for Super Bowl LX, and star Matthew McConaughey is lounging with none other than Parker Posey.
“The White Lotus” actress was revealed in new teasers late last week for Uber Eats’ Big Game appearances.
Born in the 1960s, Parker Posey is a highly-acclaimed actress and musician, widely regarded as “the Queen of the Indies” for her prolific roles in independent movies during the 1990s.
Known for her distinct comedic timing and improvisational skills, she has likewise appeared in cult classics like “Dazed and Confused” and numerous Christopher Guest mockumentaries, or satire and parody of real-life events.
In a teaser on YouTube Shorts, directed by William Stefan Smith, Parker looks at the audience, declaring she “wasn’t meant to live an uncomfortable Super Bowl,” whose vibes are similar to her recent role in the Thai-Hawaiian black comedy drama series.
The line particularly introduces the actress into the series’ ongoing narrative, which highlights the idea that football was invented to sell food.
In another part of the teaser, she’s shown with McConaughey on a sunbed, appearing lyrical about blueberry-based football conspiracies.
This ad is part of the campaign of Uber Eats for Super Bowl LX. Previously, Ridesharing Forum reported on McConaughey reprising his role for the food delivery app with Bradley Cooper.
In the first 30-second teaser, McConaughey casually interrupts Cooper, who is simply jogging, before his friend pulls up for some repetitive ambiance.
Likewise, McConaughey flashes moments reminiscent, yes, reminiscent, of Rust Cohle in "True Detective.”
“You best come clean…” McConaughey presses in the last frames of the 30-second interrogation.
Last year, there was the “Century of Cravings,” which traveled back in time to feature significant moments in history while placing food references into football. For one, there’s the appearance of a “pigskin” to make viewers crave bacon, with a wordplay for actor Kevin Bacon.
Then, there’s the celebrity, Sean Evans of “Hot Ones,” and a certain friend named Bill diving into a plate of buffalo wings, in the hopes of putting a pun on the Buffalo team, meanwhile.
In his moment in the ads, McConaughey, dressed as Bears coach Mike Ditka, speaks with player William Perry that he has to go by “refrigerator.”
This isn’t the first time that Parker has starred with McConaughey. In 1993, they joined together in the movie “Dazed and Confused.”
Alongside McConaughey, Parker joins a wider cast of the platform as it builds towards the return of Uber Eats for Super Bowl LX.
And, Parker isn’t just a guest. She is also set to feature in in-app content for Super Bowl LX.
“The White Lotus” is an American black comedy drama anthology that follows the exploits of the guests and staff during a week spent at The White Lotus, a luxury global resort hotel chain. Each season features a different ensemble cast. The first season was in Hawaii, the second was in Sicily, and the third is in Thailand. The upcoming brand-new season will be reportedly be shot in France.
The Uber Eats ad for Super Bowl LX follows the series of the brand, “Football Is For Food.” Keep following this Ridesharing Forum site for more Super Bowl LX coverage.
