Here’s How Uber Eats Australia Is Feasting Its 10 Years!

Around two years after Uber Eats formally launched, Uber Eats Australia was introduced to the Aussies. Now, it is celebrating its decade of service, and it wants to show the world how huge this feast is. Here’s the RSF newsroom’s story!

‘Flavours that defined a decade’ + most unforgettable orders

“Australia has officially been ordering in for a decade, and to celebrate 10 years of Uber Eats, we’ve gone into the depths of the nation’s baskets to uncover the trends defining how Aussies eat, drink and order their way through life,” Uber Eats Australia stated about this feasting of a decade of existence. “From the Saturday feasts that became a weekly ritual, to three mysterious orders of 150 bananas in WA, late-night orders of Dubai Chocolate, and the food fads that flourished over time – our decade of delivery data tells the story of a nation’s changing tastes and ordering habits.”

RSF couldn’t agree more. First, Uber Eats Australia shared about the flavors that defined a decade. Burgers are on the top spot, with, get this, over 123 million orders throughout those 10 years!

Coming in second place is pizza, pizza, and pizza, with over 69 million or almost 70 million orders garnered for a decade. However, the throne of pizza was occupied before by Mediterranean orders.

Taking the third spot are Mexican dishes, with over 35 million meals ordered throughout the entire decade, as the Australians more and more strongly prefer clean, flavorful, and bold dishes

Aside from those Top 3 orders, these are the Uber Eats Australia orders that are the most unforgettable:

  • Apples
  • Green chilis
  • Squeeze tomato sauce
  • Carrots
  • Charcoal stone pavers (yes, they’re available on Uber Eats!)
  • A4 paper
  • Shredded roast chicken
  • Omega-3 capsules
  • Mandarin oranges and lemons

Ten facts for those 10 years

Uber Eats Australia may not have the budget to host parties only to celebrate those 10 years, but over on its blog, it shared trivia about the company.

The best ones are: that Uber Eats launched in Melbourne before expanding to Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, and now it is available in over 120 cities and towns! – that from 300, Uber Eats has grown to over 65,000 merchants, as well as the fact that nearly one out of five orders was placed between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. (Guilty as charged? Not only in Australia, right?), that Saturday is the most-favorite day to order, that Aussies are selecting macros over macarons, and how Aussies are also banana lovers. Oooh!

As for what awaits the next decade for Uber Eats Australia? Only time can tell.

“The next decade will bring more of the local high street to your fingertips. From the corner grocer and neighborhood bakery to the florist, butcher, pharmacy, and retailer, more businesses of every kind will become available online and on-demand. Delivery platforms will increasingly become a digital shopfront for local neighborhoods – giving consumers more choice and helping local businesses reach customers beyond their front door,” stated Lucas Groeneveld, Managing Director of Uber Eats Australia & New Zealand. So, chubby up, and keep munching! ‘Til then!
