Costco-Uber Eats Partnership Untold Stories: Retailers Courting Younger Shoppers

Other than the news erupting about this person “so poor” they only got six streaming services, and Uber Eats once a month, did you know there are untold stories about the amazing team-up between Uber Eats and Costco RSF reported days ago? That’s right. First of all, Uber Eats once a month kinda seems abnormal nowadays. Here’s the scoop.

The untold story

Previously on Ridesharingforum.com, in the news story titled “Uber Eats Is Officially Missing You: Costco Deliveries In Over 40 States,” it was unveiled that the Walmart-competitor has expanded its partnership together with Uber Eats, as Costco items can now be shopped via Uber Eats in over 40 states in the USA!

The complete list of states are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. The only USA states not covered by this update are Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Costco nationwide, giving Costco members more ways to shop and bringing the brand’s storied selection and value to more consumers,” Andrew Macdonald, the president and chief operating officer of Uber, was stating. “Costco is one of the largest and most trusted retailers in the country for good reason, and our nationwide partnership demonstrates the scale and opportunity Uber can bring to retailers looking to meet more of consumers’ everyday shopping needs.”

But, apparently, there’s another side to this story. Now that Costco has won the trust of none other than Uber Eats, it is now trying to court, guess what? The younger shoppers! Let’s take a look.

Costco courting younger shoppers

Resident resource for these RSF stories, you know Lewis Andre, who works as a delivery driver in Ontario, in his late 20s, told the RSF correspondents weeks ago that he would soon get his Costco membership.

Two things here: first, he’s quite young compared to the other members of Costco, and second, a Costco membership? He’s playing smart!

This only goes to show that Costco, the partner of Uber Eats, is doing its job targeting younger shoppers, not to mention courting them through improved digital features and building its online, and in-store experiences to build loyalty with this market.

This relentless chase and pursuit for younger shoppers has necessitated Costco to enhance its digital member experience, and efforts in personalization have been a huge part in this investment.

For the CEO Ron Vachris, these younger members, like Lewis, can interestingly utilize the delivery options, “including the Uber Eats partnership” that expanded nationwide days ago, Vachris further pointed out.

Uber Eats connects customers with nearby restaurants through its app. Users order and pay digitally, restaurants prepare meals, and delivery couriers collect and deliver orders directly to customers. For more food delivery news, sign-up for your account here on RSF. Game on! ‘Til then!
