Woolies After Dark, Anyone? South Africans Can Now Order Those Late-Night Cravings On Uber Eats

No, Woolies are not about wool fashion but about food cravings, particularly at night. Woolies After Dark is a late-night shopping experience from Woolworths, the latest retail group in Australia and New Zealand with international reach.

Recently, Woolworths has partnered with Engen and Uber Eats for Woolies After Dark. Specifically, these are for South Africans.

South Africans will simply have to search for “Woolies” on the Uber Eats app to reveal not only the usual much-loved meals and treats, but also pantry staples and flowers sold at Woolworths Foodstops. Deliveries are available until after midnight.

Furthermore, all deliveries will keep the Woolies cold chain, and shoppers can enjoy some of Woolworths’ products just like shopping via Woolies Dash, Woolworth’s next-hour delivery app, with the benefit of extended hours.

“We’re thrilled to launch a new service that allows us to reach our customers till midnight without compromising on our cold chain. A key differentiator in our on-demand delivery is our cold chain, and I’m delighted that Woolies After Dark will use the same innovative technology found in Woolies Dash to ensure our customers enjoy only the best Woolies Exceptional Quality. Thanks to our cold chain, food delivered to our customers is as fresh as the food on our shelves, only now, they’re able to shop for more hours in a day,” said Evangelos Morris, head of Foodstops at Woolworths.

Woolies After Dark is what comes next after on-demand delivery, again built on Woolies Dash and its promise of offering convenience anytime, anywhere.

This trio partnership between Woolworths, Engen Quickshop & Co., and Uber Eats is an exclusive deal aimed at making South Africans’ lives more convenient.

“Engen Quickshop & Co. has always been about convenience. Late-night delivery brings us closer to our valued customers, and we look forward to making life easier for them,” stated Jacques Oostendorf, the partnerships manager at Engen.

This partnership has Uber Eats welcoming 24 Woolworths Foodstops in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape. As demand for the service grows, more stores will be added before the end of this month.

Of course, Uber Eats is happy.

“Certain parts of the country have had access to Woolworths’ food on Uber Eats during smaller trials, and the demand was exceptional. It’s clear that South Africans are eager to shop Woolworths quality on Uber Eats at times that are convenient to them. Uber, Woolworths, and Engen are synonymous with reliability and service, and I’m confident that all our users are going to love this new offering,” stated Cikida Gcali, the general manager for Grocery & Retail at Uber Eats.
