The Big Apple is also listed as one of the cities with the worst commute costs, alongside San Diego in California, Houston in Texas, San Francisco in California, Tampa in Florida, Orlando in Florida, Colorado Springs in Colorado, Flagstaff in Arizona, Wichita in Kansas, and Louisville in Kentucky.

Uber’s Prepaid Passes

Uber’s new feature that’s Prepaid Passes allows you to book rides in advance and even save some money along the way.

With Prepaid Passes, passengers could book five, 10, 15, or 20 rides on their daily routes in advance. Think of Hong Kong’s Octopus Card, but on steroids. The more rides you buy, the bigger the discounts you get. For instance, there are passengers who got five percent savings on five rides and up to 20 percent savings on 20 rides.

It’s easy to access this new feature. Once it appears on your app, simply set the route, choose a one-hour window for ride requests, select the number of rides you wish to book, and complete the payment.

These Prepaid Passes are available for a month from the time you purchased them. Plus, you could even share them with your family members and relatives, too.

Even more, these Passes come with surge protection features. That means you never need to worry about paying hefty fares if your one-hour request window falls during peak hours.

In addition, if the actual fare turns out lower than the price you locked your passes at, you will only get charged the lower amount. Quite stunning!

At launch, Uber’s Prepaid Passes are available in over 75 cities, which include: Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Seattle, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay.
