Bet you do not know about this. Before Uber and Uber Eats even released their Spotify-like “YOUBER 2025,” satirical comedy show “Saturday Night Live” spoofed the campaign. Did the apps get the idea from “SNL”? Here’s the scoop.
“Saturday Night Live,” which began in 1975 on NBC, is an iconic late-night live sketch comedy and variety show that features both regular ad guested set of comedians, as well as musical guests. It is known for its satirical take on contemporary pop culture and politics in the USA, mainly. They have featured the likes of former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and United States President Donald Trump, except that it’s mockery.
‘Espresso!’
The skit from the satirical comedy show started with an innocuous character who couldn’t contain her delight to find she was among Sabrina Carpenter’s top global listeners in 2025. Switch it up like Nintendo… Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know… That’s that me Espresso!
Then, in a sudden turn of events, an advertisement was revealed to show who the characters really are this year, then featured “Uber Eats Wrapped.”
According to media reports, a character learned he had eaten more Chicken Nuggets than 99 percent of users across the globe. Another was assigned an “Uber Eats age,” a riff on Spotify’s “listening age,” only to be told his was “dead.” The humiliation by NBC peaked when a character realized he had spent a whopping $24,000 on Uber Eats in a year, prompting the guy to scream into a, get this, pillow, in response.
Uber Eats planned this all along?
It is unclear whether “Saturday Night Live” knew that Uber Eats was going to make this Spotify Wrapped-esque campaign, since the Uber administration and the NBC office declined to make comments.
To provide context, ridesharing media previously reported Uber and Uber Eats launching the “YOUBER 2025” campaign, which recaps the best of the best moments of consumers with the platforms this year.
“In 2025, Uber helped you get you where you needed to be and get what you needed most. Now, for the first time, we’re turning all of those rides, ratings, cravings and savings into something bigger, just for you. Introducing YOUBER 2025, a personalized recap of your year in rides and eats, all accessible within the app. Think of it as a love letter to our users and the millions of moments that mattered this year,” Uber stated in its newsroom official.
Just superb. And, just like how interactive is Spotify Wrapped, you can access your YOUBER experience in just a few taps, starting today, Monday. Yes, you got that right, it’s like the template for the New Year 2026 recap.
“We loved showing up for all of you in 2025, and can’t wait to see what next year has in store. Because at the end of the day, we can’t spell ‘Uber’ without ‘u’!” Uber went on.
