At the Chinese New Year 2025 celebrations in Birmingham, England, Uber Eats is the proud official sponsor.
That’s right. After the world has celebrated the official date of this year’s Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake, today, Birmingham in England will follow through this February 1st and 2nd with a host of festivities that will help you ring in prosperity for this year. Here’s what to expect:
Craft market
The main venue is the Birmingham Hippodrome, but nearby areas will also be hosting various activities. For example, you can lose yourself shopping at a craft market in Southside, with stalls offering creations from local craftspeople and businesses, street food, and even fun games. This is happening from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time on both dates.
Lion, dragon dances
Chinese New Year isn’t Chinese New Year without the traditional lion and dragon dances. Proceed to Rotunda Square to witness the processions. If you are confused about the location or don’t have access to Google Maps, it’s near the Bullring Bull this Saturday.
Face painting, snake puppets, calligraphy, coloring
Uber Eats has always been a platform for the whole family. As a sponsor of this Chinese New Year event, you may also enjoy face painting activities, snake puppets, calligraphy sessions, and coloring the Chinese zodiac animals at the Thorp Street entrance.
The highlight: ‘The Uber Eats Stage’
Wait until you see what the main sponsor has in store for you. On Sunday, the closing day of the festivities, the main venue, the Hippodrome Square will roar like a tiger, or rather, hiss like a snake, with the show titled “The Uber Eats Stage.”
Experience China in England. This show will feature more than 30 performances, including lion and dragon dances, K-Pop shows, traditional Chinese dance acts, school choirs, and even Tai Chi sessions you can watch and mimic, perfect for oldies heading to the event.
Plus, the nearby Patrick Studio will also present a performance showcase that will empower British, East Asia, and Southeast Asian creatives are they tell stories of the underrepresented.
Closes with a fireworks show
The festivities will be closed right at Hippodrome Square, too with a spectacular fireworks show welcoming the Year of the Snake. Sounds enticing? Inviting. Don’t be late and be there at the Square at 5:45 p.m. local time.
