For such a rare time, Uber Eats, particularly its division in Great Britain, has conducted a study where it found an uptick in Christmas Eve grocery deliveries in recent memory. This, while it gears up to roll out new tools and features to support not just shoppers, but also merchants. Here’s the scoop.
20% surge
Uber Eats Great Britain, through a study, revealed a 20 percent surge in Christmas Eve grocery orders. This figure is quite expected as doorstep delivery has become the more preferred nowadays, especially during Christmas shopping.
The data revealed that there is a growing dependence on Uber Eats’ grocery delivery services, as seen in the 20 percent jump in grocery orders on Christmas Eve alone in 2024.
From delivering emergency supplies to sourcing that roast, Uber Eats’ rolling out new tools!
But Uber Eats is not merely ending the study on a whim. They are taking action to make sure that the consequences of the growing demand for instant delivery services are mended or addressed.
The world’s top food delivery app has introduced a full range and suite of new tools and features, aimed at making the holiday shopping rush less stressful and more manageable for both consumers and businesses.
From delivering emergency supplies to sourcing out your entire roast, Uber Eats is ensuring it is leading the pack as your preferred festive shopping platform.
One of the features is on gifting, based on the research that gifts and supplies orders more than doubled last December, compared to the year prior.
To meet this demand, Uber Eats has launched a dedicated gifting hub in collaboration with several renowned brands, offering a wide range of options, including cards, candles, perfume, Prosecco, and even AirPods.
Helping merchants deburden themselves on daily tasks
Aside from this feature, Uber Eats is also helping merchants manage peak shopping during the festive season this Christmas with new features designed to streamline operations and enhance the customer experience.
Shoppers can edit their orders live to change items until the minute they are sure they want to purchase them.
There are also features that give you more control when items get out of stock. You may set your preferred replacements with AI-generated suggestions based on what you normally order, and the price. This algorithm saves your choices for future use.
For merchants, there’s a batch picking feature that allows in-store staff to gather several orders at once, eliminating the challenge of going back and forth across the store. This feature enables staff to organize item collections by section. Who would want to yield to this repetitive task, whether you place yourself in the shoes of the staff, or are the staff yourself, right?
