The Super Bowl, a sporting event others regard as “the Olympics of America,” is the American football championship game of the National Football League, or the NFL. If there are three things that make it a highly anticipated gathering, it’s the game – of course – then the half-time show, then the Super Bowl ads. Yes, the ads that play are as fun and thrilling as the game.
With regard to the half-time show, “Bad Blood” and “Swimming Pools” singer Kendrick Lamar will perform, relatively a “downgrade” from the acts from the previous years, Usher last year, and Rihanna in 2023.
The Super Bowl half-time shows have been headlined by singers such as The Weeknd, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Coldplay… yes, it’s always almost star-studded year-on-year.
However, it’s also the ads that play that are highly anticipated. Not every popular brand can grab an ad space during the Super Bowl, so brands that wish to be featured via their ads must pitch the most stunning, the most inviting, the most striking, and perhaps, even the most controversial ads that Super Bowl fans for that edition will remember for the rest of their lives.
Thankfully, Uber Eats has made it to the list, and it is not wasting any moment to show its guts and shine.
As early as this week, several days ahead of the big game this February 9th, the Super Bowl ad of Uber Eats has already been released. Uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Uber Eats, the ad – but, it’s only a teaser, according to news media – has been described as “super cute.” And for the Ridesharing Forum team, it really is.
Headlining the ad are British hitmaker Charli XCX, whose last major project was the “Barbie” movie, alongside the empress of food celebrities herself, Martha Stewart.
Charli XCX is the artist behind songs, such as “Boom Clap,” “360,” “Apple,” “Break the Rules,” and “Vroom Vroom,” among others.
Meanwhile, Martha Stewart has been headlined with Charli XCX in a stark contrasting mood. Stewart is a retail entrepreneur, writer, and TV personality. Her business focuses on home and hospitality, but she also has business ventures in publishing, broadcasting, merchandising, and even eCommerce. The tandem is uber cute.
In the teaser ad, simplicity prevails with the singer and the entrepreneur sitting on a couch talking about stuff. Titled “We Listen & We Don’t Judge with Charli XCX & Martha Stewart,” the ad featured them talking about and promoting, what else? Uber Eats.
The TikTok-viral phrase “we listen and we don’t judge” was repeated in the ad, together with punchy one-liners that will blow the minds of Super Bowl viewers.
Then, Stewart jokes she mistakenly thought “Charli XCX” was a Wi-Fi password, admitting she had no idea she was a singer. Meanwhile, Charli XCX takes revenge and quips she thought the businesswoman was a catering provider, claiming she had no idea what a “Super Bowl” is all about.
It may not be as controversial as the other ads, but it’s fun that it deserves applause during the big sporting event.
“This is brilliant. I could watch two seasons of this show,” commented a YouTube viewer.
