The planet is having fun this Fourth of July! And Uber, too! The world’s number one ridesharing app has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to offer ride-freebies to those interested. Here’s the scoop.
MADD x Uber
You can’t blame people if they want to party and revel this Fourth of July weekend. But when they need to go home safely, how? That’s when Uber comes into the scene.
Uber has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to offer discounted rides across some cities in the United States, such as Los Angeles.
Starting today, Friday, Uber riders in Los Angeles are receiving 25 percent off up to two of their Uber rides at up to $8 per ride with the promo code RIDESAFE2025 via the Uber app.
This promo runs starting today until July 7th, valid from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. or while supplies last.
MADD is a non-profit organization based in the United States, Canada, and Brazil, seeking to put an end to driving with any amount of alcohol in the bloodstream, which helps people drive home safely or get home safely during Fourth of July celebrations. The organization also supports those affected by drunk driving, preventing underage drinking, and striving for more stringent impaired driving policy caused by alcohol and substances.
This initiative between MADD and Uber comes as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the country has ranked American Independence Day as among the most dangerous holidays for impaired driving. Before 2024, there were 233 deaths, 38 percent of which were traffic fatalities, the agency pointed out.
This year, it is predicted that over four million drivers in southern California alone will hit the road on Independence Day, celebrating the occasion.
