This July 4th, the USA and the world will celebrate the 250 years of American independence, dubbed as #America250. There are several events lined-up that you don’t want to miss. In fact, there’s a full website dedicated to the celebration.
According to the official website of America250, “On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.”
Among the events and gatherings lined-up for the July 4th celebrations this year are:
- America’s Block Party
- Concert at the LA Memorial Coliseum
- And so much more!
It’s only as if it was yesterday when these celebrations were covered last year, and it is happening again this year!
And, ridesharing companies are going to play a big role, a huge, huge role. For instance, Lyft is teaming up with Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Initiative to encourage residents and visitors to plan ahead for safer rides home when they attend Independence Day events, or go out with their family around Las Vegas and Reno Tahoe.
“Around the Fourth of July holiday, we often see an increase in impaired drivers on the road,” Zero Fatalities Program Manager Anita Pepper told RSF. “According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 2,719 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes during the Fourth of July holiday period from 2020 to 2024, and 38% of the drivers killed were impaired. Every safe ride helps protect lives and moves us closer to our goal of zero fatalities on Nevada’s roads.”
So, from Saturday, July 4th at 12 p.m. through Sunday, July 5th at 6 a.m. local time, passengers can redeem $5 off one Lyft this using the coupon code SAFERIDEJULY4TH. This offer is made available to 300 passengers only, and one ride per passenger, as long as supplies last. Download and log into the Lyft app official, or visit this link.
The Zero Fatalities Initiative of the Silver State aims to eliminate fatalities on the roadways of Nevada. They recognize how some people may think zero is an impossible goal, but when it comes to friends and family, importance should be pushed.
“We’re aiming for zero because everyone matters. The road to zero targets key behaviors like buckling up, being pedestrian and motorcycle safe, eliminating impaired driving, focusing on the road, and stopping on red,” the initiative pointed out.
Happy American Independence Day 2026, everybody! For more ridesharing news, keep browsing RSF. Share your thoughts, too!
