Türkiye Might Soon Find Itself Dominated By Uber Eats, Through Delivery Hero

Taking it from beautiful USA, to Türkiye? In Türkiye, the food delivery space is dominated by Yemeksepeti, Getir – which RSF had featured here previously – and Trendyol Go, the delivery division of Turkish eCommerce platform, Trendyol.

Yemeksepeti is touted the pioneer of Turkish food deliveries, offering an extensive selection of restaurants and commonly patronized by travelers. There’s Getir, offering ultra-fast grocery deliveries, and Trendyol Go. As you can see, Uber Eats is nowhere to be found, but sooner or later, it might. Yes! Here’s the scoop, take a look.

Yemeksepeti: Türkiye’s first, acquired for $589 million

But, not in the sense that Uber Eats will its logo on motorcycles will be plying the roads of Türkiye. That’s going to be difficult since Uber Eats is an American company.

Since Uber is currently in advanced talks to acquire Delivery Hero, it will establish its presence in Türkiye, since Delivery Hero is the parent company of Yemeksepeti.

Sources close to RSF stated that a deal could soon be reached, probably this week, at a price above Delivery Hero’s current trading level of around $41 per share. The potential takeover and acquisition would be a milestone for the Turkish online delivery sector for food.

It should also be noted right here that Uber controls Trendyol Go, which it acquired for $694 million in June 2025, and has it holding an around 85 percent stake in the food and grocery platform of the famous eCommerce group. So, is there a conflict of interest, or monopoly? The latter, maybe.

If the deal comes into fruition, this would add Yemeksepeti to that similar position, placing two of the biggest food delivery platforms in Türkiye under a single owner.

Founded in beautiful Istanbul in 2001, Yemeksepeti is the first Internet food delivery platform in Türkiye, trusted by all 81 provinces of the Middle Eastern country, connecting a whopping millions of users with tens of thousands of restaurants.

Delivery Hero owns and manages Yemeksepeti since May 2015, its largest acquisition in the country.

Months-long push toward full ownership

It’s a greedy moment for Uber Eats, since it presently owns Trendyol Go, which, in June 2025, processed over 200 million orders and generated around $2 billion in gross bookings the previous year from that year. It serves over 90,000 restaurants and 19,000 couriers at the time of the deal.

So, with Uber also owning Yemeksepeti soon through Delivery Hero, this would give Uber Eats a combined control of Türkiye’s food delivery market. That’s why it could be a monopoly. Not totally great.

However, the talks that Uber may acquire Delivery Hero are loud. In May 2026, Delivery Hero confirmed it had received a formal takeover bid from Uber.
