Uber Eats is only proving its long-term partnership with the Super Bowl games. Earlier this year, Ridesharing Forum became part of the action by covering the Super Bowl event, in relation to its partnership with the food delivery app. Particularly, a Caesars Superdome-inspired salad bowl was unveiled, and it got several praises from fans.
Now, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has been handpicked to star in new nationwide advertisement campaigns not just for Uber Eats, but also for Popeyes.
Mayfield is an American professional football quarterback for the Buccaneers of the National Football League, or the NFL. In his career, he is most famous for playing college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Oklahoma Sooners, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 2017, becoming the first walk-on player to ever win the award. In the draft for the NFL 2018 event, he was selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns.
In his ad for the Louisiana-born restaurant Popeyes, he is heard saying, “Popeyes wings got better. Now spicy and mild. Sauced and dry rubbed? If Popeyes can make better wings, I can be Better Mayfield.”
His selection for the role was by accident, as the Popeyes ad was supposed to have Tristan Wirfs, but he had to attend surgery.
Popeyes is a multinational chain of fried chicken restaurants, known for its New Orleans-style cuisine. They serve burgers, biscuits, chicken, and so much more.
“I always have fun with that stuff,” Mayfield pointed out about his Popeyes ad spot. “The thing that came out is really just a full montage of all the different spots. There’s a couple of them with Vita in it that are really good. But it’s four or five six-hour days that you knock it out and you see what kind of magic those people can do. I have fun because it’s always one of those things where I don’t take myself too seriously. Just enjoy it, and to be able to do it with a teammate is always a blast.”
His ad spot for Uber Eats is yet to be aired. He comes after Uber in Hong Kong enlisted martial arts actor Nick Cheung for their ad, as the Ridesharing Forum site reported earlier.
However, Mayfield ensured the viewers that his appearance for Uber Eats will be phenomenal.
“It will be a good one,” Mayfield told Ridesharing Forum. “A little Bradley Cooper action. Good guy. First time I’ve met him. It was fun. Getting to meet people like that is always interesting. He’s a huge football fan, but an Eagles fan to the core. I was talking to him about that. He was obviously happy for the Super Bowl win, but I told him they’ve got to come back down to Tampa again, so we’ll see.”
