You often hear about Serve Robotics here on Ridesharing Forum, and this time, they are with Uber Eats to change Fort Lauderdale, Florida, one autonomous delivery at a time.
Leading autonomous sidewalking delivery provider Serve Robotics recently announced the expansion of its services in Fort Lauderdale, a destination in South Florida. Note that they currently are operating in Miami, and their presence in Fort Lauderdale will change the industry’s landscape in a significant way.
Serve Robotics takes charge of developing advanced, AI-run, low-emission sidewalk delivery robots endeavoring to make deliveries sustainable and economical. A spinoff from Uber in 2021, Serve Robotics is presently an independent company, partnered with 7-Eleven, too.
With its entry into the restaurant market, it will be able to further highlight its local institutions, chef-driven concepts, and a steady influx of new culinary talent. It will be able to sway and groove with the city’s vibrant, laid-back coastal eateries and dining destinations that offer the perfect environment for autonomous deliveries.
Specifically, customers in Fort Lauderdale – those in Downtown and Las Olas Boulevard neighborhoods – may make use of Serve Robotics’ AI-powered robots via Uber Eats. This introduces a more sustainable, reliable, and cost-efficient delivery options to several restaurants and consumers across this destination.
The co-founder and the CEO of Serve Robotics, Dr. Ali Kashani, spoke about the partnership, saying, "South Florida has proven to be an incredible market for autonomous delivery. Building on our success in Miami, the expansion to Fort Lauderdale allows us to serve more communities, support more restaurant partners, and continue scaling our low-emissions delivery network across the region.”
Serve Robotics is also working closely together with local partners, businesses, and city stakeholders to guarantee a smooth rollout in Fort Lauderdale, aligning with the goals of the city around innovations, mobilities, and sustainabilities.
"We’re excited to expand autonomous delivery operations in South Florida with Serve,” stated Aaron Emrich, Global Head of Autonomous Delivery at Uber Eats. "Fort Lauderdale’s vibrant restaurant scene, and tech-forward community make it an ideal market to deepen our collaboration and bring more innovative delivery options to customers.”
Serve Robotics is also seeking to deploy 2,000 delivery robots across the United States by the end of this year, also in partnership with Uber Eats. This milestone builds on its successful rollouts in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Uber Eats is a food delivery platform managed and operated by Uber that connects customers with nearby restaurants through a mobile app and website. Users browse menus, place orders, and pay digitally. Restaurants prepare the food, while independent delivery partners pick it up and deliver it to the customer’s location. The app provides real-time tracking, dynamic delivery fees, tipping options, and customer support, making ordering and delivery fast, cashless, and convenient. Availability, restaurants, prices, and delivery times vary by location and demand.
