Lots of schools right now in the USA are adopting delivery robots to make food deliveries for students, faculty, and staff a whole lot easier.
The newest school to employ these delivery robots with Grubhub is East Carolina University.
East Carolina University’s Dining Services and Aramark have started introducing these autonomous delivery robots operated by Avride and Grubhub, replacing Starship Technologies.
Starship Technologies has departed from its campus, schools, and university markets.
Maddoline Carson, the Aramark marketing director, pointed out how the upgrade offers a promising outlook to food deliveries amongst students, teachers, and staff at in East Carolina University.
“East Carolina University’s new Avride robots were introduced as a next-generation upgrade to the existing delivery service,” Carson told RSF. “The new robots offer improved navigation technology with a 360-degree sensor system and better energy efficiency.”
She added how these robots with their business partners feature a much bigger capacity compared to those by Starship, carrying a standard large pizza and more meal items without the pizza deforming or losing its shape.
Also, Avride’s robots feature upgraded sensors, larger storage capacity, and improved navigation. These are differences, but still, the overall ordering and delivery workflow remains largely the same
“Students order through the Grubhub app and log in using their credentials and student email,” Carson stated. “They select participating dining locations, in which a robot transports the food to a chosen location on campus.”
Customers can track the route of their deliveries through these robots right on the Grubhub app. Upon the arrival of their meal, they will receive a notification. Likewise, through the app, a code unlocks the robot for the retrieval of the intended order.
