McDonald’s Is Popular On Uber Eats, But Says Pricing Is Terrible ‘Mess’

There’s no doubt, McDonald’s is among the most ordered fast-food restaurants from on Uber Eats, but entrepreneurs with economists are saying that it has huge problems with pricing over the leading food delivery platform. Here is the scoop.

Aiming to be different?

Economics and commerce experts on business publication TheStreet have aired their concern, saying, “When people complain about the price of eating at McDonald’s, that’s usually a sign that the economy has some weakness. Over the past year or so, McDonald’s prices have become social media memes with people posting outrageous prices for Value Meals and other menu items.”

Even Uber drivers would agree. While it sems so ideal to driver for Uber, other drivers would prefer not, since the earnings they get from the app are not enough. You read this right, never enough.

This similar reality is agreed upon by those ordering their cravings via the Uber Eats app. There are customers who shared they needed to downgrade their Chicken McNuggets combo meal from the full 10-piece to a six-piece earlier this year – however their $20 bill didn’t cover the costs.

“In that case, however, we were in an airport, and while the price was high, all airport prices are high,” those customers further stated.

Statements from McDonald’s official

Christopher Kempczinski, the chief executive officer of McDonald’s, connected with Ridesharing Forum, opening up the reason for this big issue. As a matter of fact, big, big issue.

They are saying in the second quarter, the fast-food chain delivered a worldwide system-wide sales growth of around over six percent, couldn’t make it to the target figures. However, McDonald’s is continuing to throw away those marketing stunts and endorsers that are not needed, and improve menu offerings, working together to drive comparable sales results and guest count growth as the restaurant continues to develop new strategies.

In addition, hidden fees are present here

More realities are opened up as economic experts evaluated the issue. First, McDonald’s isn’t sharing the sales percentages that are in-store, picked up, or delivered, nor talking about its delivery partners, Uber Eats included, taking customers to increases in the prices of their meal orders.

McDonald’s then came to their own defense, pointing out that, "DoorDash was found to be the most expensive food-delivery app in the U.S., costing $63.21 for an order that cost $36.95 at the restaurant, or 71.1 percent more expensive, “The $5 Meal Deal continues to resonate with consumers as we recently celebrated the first year anniversary of the program… We launched Snack Wraps with an attractive $2.99 nationally advertised price point, and early results are encouraging.”

Simply put, the stars are not aligning for these Uber Eats customers and McDonald’s. McDonald’s is a global fast-food chain, touted among the most preferred internationally, renowned for its burgers, French fries, chicken meals, desserts, and more on their menu.
