ChatGPT is taking the jobs of humans away, but who cares if you could access food deliveries via this AI tool? It’s official… food, as well as grocery deliveries from your favorite platforms are going to be available via the AI chat tool. Just how is this possible? Read on.
Craving burgers? Talk to a chatbot
OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been helping homemakers find simple-to-follow recipes, or tourists arrange their trips in the destination without issues. This time, it will also be accessible for those who want to order food from apps like Uber Eats.
Here’s how it works: talk to the chatbot, easy-peasy.
This week, OpenAI revealed that it is integrating popular delivery apps into its ChatGPT program, allowing people to “chat” with them, just as they would when arranging travel itineraries, listening to music, and more.
This follows popular leisure apps like Zillow, Expedia, and Spotify that are already available on ChatGPT. The delivery apps soon making their appearance on the platform include Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Instacart.
Uber’s Sachin Kansal, the company’s chief product officer, issued a statement, “Soon, you’ll be able to see fare ranges, ETAs, and browse restaurants right in ChatGPT before seamlessly finishing your trip or order in the Uber apps… We can’t wait for people to try it and tell us what they think.”
He added that this integration is bound to “bring the ease of Uber and Uber Eats to more people.”
How it works + problems
To make ordering happening on ChatGPT, you will first need to connect your Uber Eats app to your ChatGPT account.
Reports said that Uber Eats and ChatGPT will “detect when a user wants to place an Uber Eats order,” then same goes, the user must confirm their delivery address. It will then show nearby restaurants and menu options, just like how it is on the official Uber Eats app. To start ordering, customers could launch the Uber Eats app from ChatGPT.
New way to order food
ChatGPT currently has hundreds of millions of users from around the world. Thus, this update only creates a fresher starting point for some of them who might want to order food via the chatbot. Did this idea come to your mind, too?
Plus, it offers them a newer and more conversational way to explore restaurants. For instance, you couldn’t readily ask Uber Eats, “Which foods are best for me who has fever?” could you? With ChatGPT, this is made possible.
Nevertheless, there are problems, particularly for restaurant operators who are still presently mastering the ever-shifting worlds of SEO and third-party marketplaces. Then, there’s the question of how restaurants could be listed on ChatGPT. Imagine the vast array of restaurants available on Uber Eats today. Responses to those questions are not yet being answered by the food delivery apps. More updates on this are coming, so you’d better stay tuned.
