Riddle me this, riddle me that – and riddles are going viral! – going back to the discussion, what is it that has changed the landscape of food deliveries completely, plus so much more, and had Shake Shack calling it their favorite courier?
The answer: Coco Robotics.
Coco Robotics has been continuously featured here on Ridesharing Forum as the company that food delivery apps partner with to enable those deliveries through robots. This robotic delivery company utilizes small, four-wheeler sidewalk robots to deliver food, grocery items, and other items.
First, since Shake Shack met Coco Robotics, they have since called it their favorite, or preferred courier.
Second, they were founded by two University of California, Los Angeles engineers in 2020, a time when they were in denial of the situation, but kidding aside, these engineers started questioning whether traditional cars made sense for moving restaurant orders short distances. Like the thought of first-thing in the caption, emojis!
The deputy of Coco Robotics’ Enterprise Partnerships, told the RSF team, “They were kind of looking around at the environment, thinking, ‘Why are we using 5,000-pound cars to deliver a five-pound bag of food?’ There has to be a better way.”
So, these founders set out to construct a vehicle for deliveries from restaurants. Fahs signed up under the Coco team after spending years working with restaurant affiliates and seeing first-hand how difficult the economics and business of third-party delivery could be.
Fahs spoke loudly about this, saying, “The last mile is broken. The cost equation has to change.”
Thus, the Coco Robotics founders played the hero, aiming to fix what’s broken in third-party deliveries.
For restaurants and their customers, it means more than replacing a car with a robot. Fahs revealed that Coco Robotics is capable of influencing the elimination of the need for a consumer tip, so restaurants can protect food quality. Orders travel directly from the restaurant to the customer and remain locked inside the robot during delivery. No food poisoning whatsoever, since this isn’t valuable, not even a single dime!
“It allows the restaurant to keep the food presented in the way it was prepared, at the temperature it was intended,” Fahs further pointed.
However, the founders also encountered challenges, such as making the technology work without the operational blunders.
And, famous restaurants like Shake Shack isn’t thinking twice by saying their sentiments in a few terms: “Coco is our favorite courier.”
