Follow-Up News Report: This $17 Billion DoorDash-Instacart Deal Is Also The Reason DoorDash’s Stocks Are Up Today

Yipee! Whether or not you remember how DoorDash’s stocks performed last week, it’s good news, good news, and good news now for DoorDash in the stock market.

As you may well know, DoorDash has recently bought Instacart, and Instacart is a huge company, and this big investment echoes and reverberates to its stocks performance. Yes, there are no more tears to cry before this weekend for DoorDash, for its stocks surged up! That’s right.

According to a previous report here on Ridesharingforum.com, the talks may not have taken a year, but DoorDash is officially buying rival Instacart through a deal amounting to $17 billion in high hopes that this would make the competition even more healthier between these big companies.

The deal was unveiled last Friday, marking an end for Instacart as an independent company. Instacart gained more interests in 2023, and benefitted from the time when people were huge fans of online deliveries, but it has admitted it has struggled to keep its momentum against bigger competitors like Uber, Amazon, and Walmart. Hence, the sale.

In a press release, DoorDash pointed out this deal “will offer grocers and retailers of every size DoorDash’s delivery network and Instacart’s grocery and fulfillment.” Way to go!

And so, those moves impacted DoorDash’s stocks performance this week. It is currently trading at $179.90, as of press time, up 0.50%, yes, up, up, up by that figure.

This acquisition and a strong beat for quarter-three continue to anchor good sentiments with financial experts digesting this super-fabulous news.

Big institutions even further upgraded the stock so it can shine, with other financial companies backing the deal.

Furthermore, shares are trading modestly higher, roughly 0.5 percent up, after swinging between $175 and $186 intraday, holding the prior session’s roughly 5.6 percent post-earnings gain.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve forgotten the figures last week, but what’s clear is that DoorDash has outperformed a weak backdrop.
