Faster, Beyond Traditional: Uber Eats Deploys New Delivery Robots In New Jersey

Even if the presence of delivery robots can take away the jobs of human delivery staff, Uber Eats is firm in its decision to deploy new delivery robots in the Garden State.

Previously, Ridesharing Forum reported that delivery robots have started delivering orders for customers in Jersey City. This destination offers visits to places like Liberty State Park, Liberty Science Center, Newport Centre, and Colgate Clock, as well as a chance to snap a picture of the Statue of Liberty.

Since these places are always on the move, the need for quicker deliveries cannot be put under the sheets.

These robots in Jersey City are capable of carrying your favorite meals and reaching your location at five miles per hour. Furthermore, to help them avoid crashing into cars and pedestrians, these robots use sensors.

Those who have tried these delivery robots during that initial deployment were delighted, saying, “These robots, they are all electric vehicles. So they do reduce emissions, and they also help reduce congestion on the streets. The merchant will come out, they’ll load the autonomous robot, then it will take off and head to the customer. It’ll remain locked the whole time until it meets the customer. Then, only the intended recipient is able to actually unlock that, using the Uber Eats app.”

This time, new sets of delivery robots are working in New Jersey.

Local ridesharing media reported that customers in this state can now opt out of robot delivery for human couriers or conversely. Each robot can operate for 10 hours on a single charge and has a maximum speed of five miles per hour. It is very efficient.

The robot machine opens on its own, wherein you can simply grab your orders and enjoy.

“So I think the [remarkable] thing is that when drivers come in and when the order is not ready, [there is waiting time,] but with the robot, we can just take our time to have the best-quality food and we can pack them nicely and bring them out,” stated a manager at a restaurant in the area.

What do you think of these delivery robots? Should consumers prefer them for they are faster and should they be regulated because they can take the jobs of humans? Share your thoughts by creating and signing up for your account today on Ridesharing Forum.
