Developing News: Amazon Bans Driver Who Stole Customer’s Cat In California

“A horrible act.” It’s how Amazon describes the stealing of a customer’s cat in California.

Previously, Ridesharing Forum reported the crying cat owner who was pleading for the Amazon Flex driver to return the adorable cat they stole from her. As of that time of writing, Amazon Flex has not yet responded to the calls from ridesharing media, but this time, they already did.

Amazon expressed their anger and regret over the incident that was caught on security video in Los Angeles, specifically in Lakewood last December 11th.

So far, Amazon has already banned the driver from using the app, and working for them.

“This was a horrible act, and we’ve apologized to Ms. Huff-Medina,” Amazon spokesperson Louie Tran told the media. “The Amazon Flex delivery partner in question is no longer eligible to deliver to our customers.”

The owner is Diane Huff-Medina, who holds sentimental value with the cat, as her children also used to play with it.

On December 11th, a Siamese cat named Piper, was the victim of a man’s wrongful admiration when he crouched down to her, only to take the cat by her neck’s scruff, carry it inside his car, and drive away with it, just like Cruella de Vil stealing dalmations in the Walt Disney animated movie. The cat wasn’t supposed to get stolen by anybody, since it was microchipped in a collar jewel, but it wasn’t wearing the collar that time, unfortunately.

Charges have been filed against the driver, but as of Wednesday this week, the cat has not been returned, more unfortunately.

“It’s a helpless feeling because we watched her get taken, so I don’t know where she is or if [she’s okay,]” Huff-Medina stated.

The spokesman for Amazon, Tran, told Ridesharing Forum the company is now working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in its investigation.

Huff-Medina added that every day, her children ask her, “Is our cat back yet?”
