What happens when Uber Eats drivers in Hartlepool, England encounter lower wages? They go on strike, of course. Here is the scoop.
Walkout
Dozens of drivers from Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat are currently on a three-day walkout beginning today for a week to challenge those apps.
They are saying their pay has gone down to as low as $8 for each hour. They are also asking for “better treatment.”
“Recently our pay has really gone down. A lot of drivers are working 12 to 15 hours per day just to survive. The living wage is getting higher each year while our wages are going down. They are squeezing us out basically. We are asking each company to send a representative to speak to us,” Jaydeep Patel, a protesting driver, stated.
They won’t accept orders until July 17th.
Your 2nd call to incredible gourmet experience
Lunchtime royalty Uber Eats treats its customers to a bold new play for lunchtime loyalty. It has reimagined the classic British meal deal, featuring various tasty items on its menu.
This campaign is the extension of its “When You’ve Done Enough” campaign. This campaign, which was launched earlier this year, has Uber Eats giving people a license to order what they want effortlessly and enjoy a bit of downtime.
Under this platform, Uber Eats continues to recognize big and small achievements that warrant that “take a moment opportunity.” Thus, the app has launched a pop-up experience called the Sandwich Studio.
This happens in London’s Potters Field, followed by a delivery-exclusive offerging in Manchester and Liverpool.
This London pop-up will be housed inside a gigantic, Uber Eats-branded delivery bag – classic, right? – while the Sandwich Studio offers a tongue-in-cheek luxury twist on Britain’s most iconic lunch staple.
The festivities have started last July 15th and will end on July 18th. London, Manchester, and Liverpool are playing witness into gourmet creations, starring Michelin-awarded chefs Jack Croft and Will Murray. Each sandwich is only priced at around $4.
Meanwhile, for Uber One members visiting the Studio, it’s just at around $3 with proceeds from those three locations donated to City Harvest.
This media activation and experience weave together experiential marketing, celebrating culinary partnership and social good, which revolutionizes the evolution of the strategy of the app, delighting customers in their daily routines.
“With When You’ve Done Enough, we’re recognising the everyday little wins that warrant taking a moment of downtime in celebration. The Sandwich Studio brings that to life, turning the lunch hour habit into something fun, restorative and unmistakably Uber Eats,” Uber Eats’ marketing department told Ridesharing Forum.
The full menu features the following: Coronation Lobster, Rotisserie Chicken & Ssamjang, Cheese & Honion, and The VLT.
See the Sandwich Studio in London’s Potters Field until the 19th between 12 to 3 p.m. with proceeds going to City Harvest. Can’t make it to this destination? The gourmet meal deals will also touch down on Manchester and Liverpool via Uber Eats delivery on the 17th and the 18th of July.
