Uber Eats scams are funny as they sound. A customer took to social to share how she got scammed by this Uber Eats delivery man who held her food for ransom! Clearly, the delivery man needs some extra cash!
She joins other customers who have experienced other kinds of scams, such as delivery staff eating up fries, and those who demand more cash before dropping up the orders.
Her video on Social has already raked hundreds of thousands of views as of press time, recounting how an Uber driver just held her food for ransom and tried to shake her down to deliver it. Creepy.
Here are the things that happened. She wanted to celebrate, so she ordered a pizza from a restaurant named Blaze Pizza through Uber Eats, something she said she never does.
It has taken around an hour and a half, so she began to wonder the status of her delivery. Looking down her phone for the tracking, her food has been going around for about half an hour in her area. So, she decided to call the driver.
“And at first I thought maybe he was delivering somebody else’s food, but then he started going further away from us,” she told her subscribers. “He got on the highway, so I called him.”
When she started asking her driver where her food is, the delivery man’s answers were inconsistent. At first, he said he’d delivered it already, but then the man’s purpose became ever clearer afterwards.
“Then he starts saying, ‘How much is the food worth to you?’” Liv told Ridesharing Forum. “And we’re like, ‘What are you talking about? Have you delivered the food, or do you still have the food?’ ‘Cause it’s not marked as delivered on the app. It’s still showing me his active location. And he’s getting further and further away, and then he just starts repeating, ‘What would you pay for the food? How much is the food worth?’”
That was a desperate move from the man. After five minutes of talking with the driver and ending up nowhere, she just hung up. It became clear that the driver was not planning to deliver their food.
The customer got support from her subscribers, who wrote comments on her situation, saying “I got food poisoning and was HOSPITALIZED OVERNIGHT, and uber refused to refund me because I didnt make them aware directly after receiving my order,” and “Uber eats has the the worst customer service they never resolve anything. I didn’t get an order once and they said it didn’t quality for assistance.”
Eventually, they still wished to celebrate, so they ordered the pizza instead straight from the restaurant. Uber called her along the way, she said. There are really certain situations when food deliveries won’t work, but it’s not always the case. For more food delivery news, sign up for your account today on Ridesharing Forum.
