All Hands On The Deck: Uber Eats x Shake Shack Mean Incredible Wonder

This cool food delivery app has bolstered its partnership with this popular multinational fast-casual restaurant chain based in New Jersey. How they are improving their team-up? By expanding their robotic deliveries.

For the context, this program is the extension of the series of sidewalk delivery robot initiative that has been going on in the ridesharing industry. This started in 2024 and expanded this year.

Same, same, but not the same. Those collaborations tapped on Serve Robotics, a spin-off from Uber when it became this independent company it is in 2021. In this latest automated delivery pilot project this time, the restaurant and the app are utilizing the delivery robots from Avride. This developer of vehicular automation technology covers self-driving cars, robotaxis, and delivery robots. It is based in Massachusetts and Texas in the United States, as well as in Israel, Serbia, and South Korea.

Shake Shack’s chief growth officer, Steph So, stated, “We’re thrilled to team up with Avride as we continue our work with Uber Eats to bring autonomous delivery to even more customers. This partnership gives our fans in Jersey City a fun, innovative new way to enjoy their favorite Shack classics, making it easier than ever to get the food they love.”

This burger chain popular worldwide has gone a long way. Shake Shack started out as a simple hotdog cart in Madison Square Park in the Big Apple. Originally, it was run out of the Eleven Madison Park kitchen, a fine dining business awarded with three Michelin stars.

“Even though Shake Shack started as a mere cart, the company was an immediate hit. The cart found continued success, with hungry customers lining up in the park for three summers,” Yahoo Life emphasized.

The restaurant has then expanded to over 500 locations across the industry, with more than 350 in 34 states in the USA, and around 190 locations internationally. Think of experiencing authentic, real Angus beef patties in Mexico City, Tokyo, Singapore, Tokyo, Istanbul, London, Hong Kong, Dubai, and more arriving in the future.

What could delivery robots bring even if they could take the jobs of human staff in-charge of deliveries? Food delivery robots are responsible for automating thost last-mile food deliveries, enhancing efficiencies and reducing costs for restaurants and delivery offerings.

Their advantages include reducing costs, increasing efficiency, consistency and reliability, environmental benefits, and data collection and evaluations.

The Uber Eats app leverages the technology of its ridesharing division, which encompasses its logistics capabilities to partner with almost 900,000 retailers in over 11,000 cities globally, with average delivery times under 30 minutes. Really incredible, right?
