Like seriously? Lyft is such a big ridesharing app, so it’s only now that it’s in Québec?! Yes. Surprised? Read on for the scoop.
Québec is now part of the Lyft network
Starting this June, Lyft is now plying Québec.
Audrey Liu, the EVP of Rider Experience and Community Safety at Lyft, expressed her happiness about this: "Whether it’s a trip to the market, a visit with family, or discovering a hidden gem in the city, Lyft is available to help you get there. [Bikesharing system] users took over 13 million bike rides in Montréal last year, and we’re excited to begin serving millions more Quebecers through rideshare in cities across the province.”
That means Lyft is also now in Montréal, and Lyft’s official media are the first to reveal that more Lyft rides are about to get unveiled in several other major cities across the province.
This success is only a reflection of Lyft’s success in Canada. Québec is not the first Canadian destination to welcome Lyft.
According to Lyft’s official press release, shared with Ridesharing Forum, Lyft rides in Canada expanded by over 50 percent year-over-year in the first quarter of the year. This is why the platform is proud to connect even more Canadians for the ongoing summer season.
What to do in Québec
Now that Lyft is already in Québec, exploring this destination will be much easier for tourists, both local and foreign.
Québec offers a mixture of history, culture, and natural beauty. You can stroll Old Quebec’s cobblestone streets, visit Château Frontenac, and explore the Citadel.
Or, experience Montmorency Falls, which is higher than Niagara – but maybe not as alluring – and hike in Jacques-Cartier National Park. Discover vibrant art in Quartier Petit Champlain and enjoy local cuisine, especially poutine and maple treats.
In winter, try snow sports or visit the famous Ice Hotel. For culture, attend the Quebec Winter Carnival or explore museums like Musée de la Civilisation.
So, whether you need to travel to the heart of Old Montréal, meet friends for coffee at the Château Frontenac, or take a convenient trip to your workplace, Lyft Québec is here for you.
How to get started saving
Lyft Québec isn’t just there to show off. It is offering freebies and perks to those new to the platform.
For instance, riders in Québec get a special launch offer. New riders acquire 50 percent off their first five rides, yes, their first five rides within 14 days from joining the app. The voucher code is QUEBEC. Easy to understand. With this, they can save around CA$10 per ride.
To be in for this promo, simply download the Lyft rider app, create the account, and launch it. Enter your destination. The app will automatically pool in destinations based on what you type. Then, select your ride mode or the type of car. Lastly, tap Select to book a ride.
Lyft is also present in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, Québec City, Gatineau, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, and Saguenay, serving drivers and riders in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and a number of cities in Southwest Ontario.
