Barty is a retired, yet was a very popular tennis player in Australia, a former World Number 1 champion celebrated for her distinctive all-court game, tactical variety that features slice backhands and drop shots, and her three Grand Slam singles titles, namely the French Open 2019, Wimbledon 2021, and the Australian Open 2022. She retired in 2022 at the peak of her career.

She is a proud Ngarigo people, an indigenous group in Australia, but she also looks like a Western immigrant during the Age of Conquest. She plays professional cricket and is known for her nickname, “Barty Party,” which reflects her spirit filled to the rest with inspiration.

“With a young family keeping me on my toes, I’m often relying on at-home deliveries, especially over the holidays. Getting behind the wheel as an Amazon Flex delivery partner has given me a whole new appreciation for these drivers who help make every day and the holidays special for so many Australian families like mine. Surprising Amazon customers was great fun and hopefully brought joy to a few people’s days,” Barty told Ridesharing Forum.

So now, she’s enjoying another chapter in her life as the new frontliner in a new campaign of Amazon Flex, which shines the spotlight on the road’s everyday heroes, the delivery partners who keep Amazon orders moving across the year.

Barty spends a day on the road as one of these delivery partners, surprising customers in Brisbane and celebrating, paying tribute to the people who help make holiday deliveries in their quickest as possible.

For Barty and the Amazon Flex team, Christmas came early.

Graham Henry, a real-life Amazon Flex delivery partner based in Brisbane, who trained Barty regarding how to do it, stated, “I started delivering with Amazon Flex because the flexibility allows me to get extra earnings around my family commitments – I can pick up delivery blocks when it suits me and know exactly what I’ll earn upfront. Joining Ash on her deliveries and getting to see her experience firsthand how fulfilling it can be was incredible. She brought the same focus and enthusiasm to delivering packages as she did to tennis!”

Amazon is so happy with this new campaign. Janet Menzies, the Amazon country manager, told Ridesharing Forum how they are constantly in search of ways to show their appreciation for delivery partners.

“… This festive season, we are offering refreshment vouchers, surprise and delight giveaways, and special holiday promotions. We are thrilled to have had Ash lend a hand and shine a light on the joy delivery partners spread every day,” Menzies said. “This year, most Prime members will be able to place orders from hundreds of thousands of eligible items as late as 22 December and have them delivered in time for the big day. That’s in a big way thanks to the Amazon Flex delivery partners who do amazing work throughout the year, especially over the busy festive season.”
