When you consider that drivers completed 11.27 billion trips last year, with its almost two billion increase in the year prior, Business of Apps stated, it follows through that their earnings should likewise be higher.
Popular media outlet The Guardian has agreed, reiterating that the average take rate that drivers earn while driving for Uber has generally gone up from 25 to 29 percent, with some trips “taking over 50 percent.”
Then, Uber’s newsroom official also shares their insights, but keeps itself mum on the actual figures. It is saying that how much drivers earn depends on how much they offer, where they drive and deliver, the timeslot during which they drive, and the time they spend online.
But then, again, they are decrying that almost is not enough, still.
Uber has revealed Thursday the new pilot program that offers gig workers a way to train AI via the so-called “digital tasks,” which are not initially gigs, per se.
Sanchin Kansal, the chief product officer of the world’s top ridesharing app, attended the Only on Uber event in the United States capital, arguing, “A lot of these tasks are digital – meaning you can do them from your phone… from anywhere, and at the same time create earnings opportunities.”
Such digital tasks include simpler, quicker tasks for these drivers, who would then be tagged workers this time, specifically uploading images, recording themselves speaking in their native tongue, and submitting documents written in various locations, which are then fed into the AI platforms. Some countries are already enjoying these new undertakings.
“Drivers have asked for more ways [to earn, even if they’re] not on the road,” the CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, told ridesharing media. “Uber’s giving drivers more ways to earn during downtime.”
Believe it or not, it is also a pilot program, which allows these “gig workers” to accomplish those digital tasks via the Uber Driver app itself.
But, these digital tasks are just available to drivers, plus couriers, who have preferred to toggle on the setup. Once signed up, they would occasionally see invites to complete tasks in the Opportunity Center.
Once they are available, these drivers could view the full list before they start, however, each tasks are optional, including the time it takes to complete them and how much they are supposed to earn. In within a day, their compensation will arrive.
