Uber, OpenTable Team Up To Offer Dining + Transportation Perks

Uber has been into so many partnerships since its conception, but none is seemingly as big as this recent collaboration with OpenTable. The market: millions of consumers and restaurants worldwide.

OpenTable is an online restaurant-reservation service company that started in 1998. Today, it has a network of more than 60,000 restaurants, bars, and wineries globally.

So, how does OpenTable work? Well, basically speaking, it makes it extremely easier for restaurants to find customers and fill in their void, unoccupied seats and tables.

This platform is helping streamline restaurant operations, place them in front of new guests, and supplement everything with 24/7 customer support in over 200 languages.

“OpenTable is integrated with hundreds of technology partners to help restaurants run seamlessly. All so restaurants can focus on what they do best: providing amazing hospitality and food,” its LinkedIn profile stated.

For diners, they can use OpenTable to discover new restaurants and get personalized recommendations, as well as data-supported lists, curated guides, and so much more.

Uber, a platform that has Uber Eats under its wing, which is an app that connects users to hundreds of restaurants as well, may sound so repetitive if it partners with OpenTable, but of course, Uber thought outside the box.

On Monday, Uber announced its new strategic partnership with OpenTable to provide seamless dining experiences for millions of highly engaged customers and food adventurers around the world.

“We’re always looking for ways to help people go out and get the best of their cities," said Uber’s chief executive officer Dara Khosrowshahi, looked ahead. “As a first step, our partnership with OpenTable will make it easier than ever to find and book a great restaurant and get there without a hitch. And we’re excited to continue making Uber One even more valuable to our members.”

It’s a historic collaboration that will pair up the ride-hailing and food delivery departments of Uber with OpenTable’s vast restaurant network in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Ireland. That’s massive.

The partnership will work in such a way that Uber and OpenTable will develop integrations of those platforms with Uber Eats so customers can find it easier to reserve their food and bring their cravings to their doorsteps. Plus, there are also new membership benefits to be introduced as part of this partnership.

With over a million restaurant partners combined for the two companies, this collaboration is projected to bring more opportunities to attract more revenue, engage optimally with diners, and reach new audiences.

What’s even more exciting is that this partnership won’t roll out in one blow but rather in phases throughout 2025.

“Together with Uber, we’re redefining what it means to dine out in a connected world,” emphasized Debby Soo, CEO of OpenTable. “Dining, delivery, and transportation are all intimately connected. This partnership strategically positions OpenTable to make those daily experiences as integrated and frictionless as possible for both restaurants and diners.”
