After spending over a decade with Uber India, its former president, Prabhjeet Singh, has stepped down, but this isn’t the end of the journey for him, as he is taking a brand-new venture in ChatGPT’s parent company, OpenAI.
Singh will join OpenAI as the managing director for India as well, and exciting things are bound to happen with changing leadership in Uber, and his experience from the ridesharing company getting into ChatGPT.
This also comes at a time when the artificial intelligence firm is strengthening its leadership in this key growth market.
He assumes the role in September and report to Kiran Mani, the managing director for Asia-Pacific.
According to his official LinkedIn profile, Singh has been with Uber for around 10 years, so OpenAI will definitely benefit from his tons of experiences. He previously worked as an Associate Partner for McKinsey & Company and a Senior Analyst for Lehman Brothers, which became controversial during the 2007 to 2008 recession in the USA.
He holds an Electronics and Communications Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, and took an MBA at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
“India is one of Uber’s most important markets globally, an important driver of innovation and long-term growth. The strength of our business today reflects the incredible team and foundation built over the years. We thank Prabhjeet for his leadership and lasting contributions in his decade-long journey with Uber – we remain deeply committed to our next phase of growth in India,” stated Uber, thanking Singh.
He is bound to be OpenAI’s most senior leader in India and will be responsible for its performance across consumer growth, enterprise adoption, team-ups, regulatory engagement, and operations. Send him your messages of appreciation, and congratulations! Open your account on Ridesharingforum.com!
