If you think that the ridesharing and food delivery industries are crazy, you are most probably right.
Here’s another crazy story. This woman, hailing from Tennessee, thinks that working as a delivery rider for companies like DoorDash, is unfulfilling.
Interestingly, she recently started a GoFundMe account to help raise funds, so the rider could retire!
Go search on Google to find out that GoFundMe is the globe’s number one for-profit, donation-based crowdfunding tool that lets its customers raise money online, provided that the cause is authentic, such as personal causes, emergencies, initiatives, and charitable events. It is a social fundraising platform, which facilitates peer-to-peer donations, medical expenditures, and emergency needs.
The Tennessee woman is named Brittany Smith, who shared online a Ring camera clip of her DoorDash driver, Richard, who brought her her Starbucks order, and briefly concluded that he’s having a hard time. Is your head scratching?
“It was evident from the video [that] this was a task for him,” she said. “He is precious, and he is not working because he wants to, he’s working because he has to.”
Out of her curiosity, she looked for Richard on social where she finding out that he does DoorDash to help fund his monthly expenses, including medication for him and his wife. Can’t they take a break in Starbucks? She might be asking.
She also found out that his wife was fired from her job – but not because she’s incompetent – and that by the time the couple was about to pay for their expenses, zero is left.
“Let’s help Richard go back into retirement!” the Tennessee woman is yelling.
As of press time, over 1,000 people have since donated to the GoFundMe account, helping raise over $35,000.
Who is right? Who is in the wrong? Ridesharing Forum consulted with OpenAI to research how much are DoorDash delivery staff really getting.
Monthly, if you are working for DoorDash full-time, OpenAI is stating you’d be getting $2,000 to $4,000 per month before expenses.
Looks huge, but let’s put it side-by-side with the earnings of other professionals, like civil engineers. A civil engineer who is already working in his profession for around 10 years can earn up to approximately $3,000 per month, teams at Ridesharing Forum site found out.
