If the song by Bryan Adams “Rescue me, from the mire… rescue me, darling, rescue me,” is playing in your head as you read this, then you are on the right track. Nobody can stop a customer from getting their DoorDash food order!
So, this Maryland customer headed to the car crash scene just to pick-up their food order, and yes, the driver got into a petty accident before they reached the point of destination for the order.
The incident
This was captured by Glenn Ndibnu with the video on Instagram with the caption on-screen, “Door dasher got in an accident bringing me my food (relax emoji)”
“This is @williamrazzi “the door dashers” go fund me, Cash App restricted his account due to numerous donations so please if you can, click the link (emoji),” the Instagram handle @thegaragegrind wrote.
The driver, William Koroma, got involved in a crash in Bowie, who was apologetic asking the customer to just pick their food order at the crash site, as his car got wrecked.
It’s a blend of guilt and shock, and anticipation for the customer the time he arrived on the site of the crash. He, however, sympathized with the driver.
“Damn, I’m so sorry, bro,” the customer told Koroma. “You got in an accident bringing me my food.”
DoorDash’s statement when things like this happen
Apparently, there isn’t any concrete statement from DoorDash, as of press time, regarding what to do when things like this occur, other than a knowledge base on their official website detailing what happens when a driver finds themselves in an accident while at work.
“We recognize you can offer your delivery services on a variety of different platforms. DoorDash is committed to enhancing Dashers’ economic security while preserving the openness and flexibility our platform provides,” the company is stating.
So yes, DoorDash still taught ahead regarding this matter. They added that drivers are covered whenever they suffer an injury while delivering orders, such as what happened to Koroma.
“All coverages are subject to the policy terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions. If there is a conflict between the information shown here and the actual insurance policy, the policy will govern,” the world’s number one food delivery app further stated.
Customer taking action
Not at court, but if DoorDash had their way of looking for justice, the customer went above and beyond by starting a GoFundMe page to invite people to donate so the driver can recover fast from the incident.
Right now, the campaign has garnered around $16,000, as of the time of research, and still counting.
