Don’t go stress yourself very hard. A c-store chain is just another name for, convenience store chain. Ta-da!
These c-store chains are groups of smaller retail outlets under common ownership or branding, selling the usual items you find around, such as snacks, beverages, and essential groceries. These types of convenience stores are typically only 5,000 square feet, operating 24/7.
A famous c-store chain, Weigel’s, has integrated with DoorDash to expand its loyalty reach, allowing customers to earn rewards on orders placed on DoorDash.
Customers ordering from this Tennessee-based c-store chain via the DoorDash Marketplace are eligible to earn points and rewards from MyWeigel’s Rewards program of Weigel’s, bridging the gap between third-party delivery and in-store loyalty benefits.
Technologies are also playing a crucial role, as this is going to be powered by a Marketplace Loyalty Proxy working together with the loyalty platform from PDI Technologies, Alpharetta, Georgia, enabling marketplaces to directly connect with a retailer’s existing loyalty infrastructure.
Through this integration, convenience store retailers could maintain continuity in their rewards systems even when transactions happen beyond their own website or app.
Furthermore, this approach also reflects a broad shift and repositioning towards omnichannel engagement in convenience retail, wherein customers expect to earn and redeem rewards throughout several touchpoints, which include, but are not limited to in-store, mobile apps, and third-party marketplaces.
Weigel’s is a family-owned chain of over 80 convenience stores and more based in East Tennessee, founded as early as 1931 as a dairy farm. They are known for “Weigel’s Kitchen” food service, featuring pizzas and specialty coffees, along with their very own brand of dairy products.
This most recent integration with DoorDash builds on the many digital investments from Weigel’s lately.
For one, the MyWeigel’s Rewards system has quickly become a central pillar of the c-store chain’s customer-engagement strategies in recent years. This program lets members earn points redeemable for fuel, pizza, and other in-store items while they get personalized offers and promotions on the mobile app.
The c-store chain has also heavily leaned into gamification and digital engagement features within its app. In 2025, for instance, Weigel’s introduced Streaks, a feature rewarding customers for checking into the app on a daily basis with milestone rewards after engaging on the app for consecutive days.
Then, there’s also Weigel’s Arcade, which is an earlier initiative. This is an in-app gaming experience that has recently surpassed over a million plays, allowing users to earn digital coins redeemable for rewards.
Additionally, the company has also utilized the platform to power up seasonal promotions and sweepstakes, particularly the Win What You Spend campaign and summer Road Trip promotions, offering amazing prizes ranging from free fuel to outdoor gear.
