Believe it or not, Uber doesn’t have much presence in Central and Eastern Europe yet. But Dracula and the Germans better watch out, because Uber might be right around the corner anytime soon.
According to various reports, Uber is looking at rolling out its delivery business in seven European countries that are not yet on its roster of markets. This marks a very significant move for the world’s number one ridesharing app to revamp its efforts in the multi-billion-euro food delivery market. This latest plan likewise aims to capture a significant share of Uber’s massive market through such an aggressive expansion.
The seven countries that are going to be included in the launch are:
- Czech Republic
- Greece
- Romania
- Austria
- Denmark
- Finland
- Norway
It is very exciting since these are also some of the most famous destinations internationally. In terms of the most widely-visited attraction, in the Czech Republic, there’s Prague Castle, then there’s the Acropolis of Athens in Greece. In Romania, there’s Bran Castle, the Schönbrunn Palace in Austria, of course, The Little Mermaid statue in Denmark, the iconic Santa Claus Village in Finland, and the Geirangerfjord in Norway. It will also cop in a brand-new dawn for more competition in these regions.
Tourists and passengers would find it easier to navigate the roads to these attractions once Uber becomes available here. It is also slated to reportedly bring in an additional $1 billion in gross bookings through the next three years, or by 2029, just after the Los Angeles Olympics year.
Uber’s global head of delivery, Susan Anderson, told ridesharing media, “It’s time to raise the bar, shake things up and deliver better value across the category.”
But that’s on the general side of things, or particularly on Uber’s future plans. Earlier this week, the Ridesharing Forum team reported Uber acquiring Turkish delivery company, Getir from a major shareholder.
However, for now, this news remains a rumor, since Uber, as of the time of research and writing, has not shared its official statement regarding this matter. It’s all speculation from ridesharing media right now. For more ridesharing and food delivery news, keep browsing this Ridesharing Forum site.
