Uber Japan and Uber Eats Japan are joining forces with Japanese technology conglomerate Rakuten to integrate the Rakuten ID into the platforms.
Uber Japan is the leading mobility and delivery platform in this East Asian country. Through the integration of Rakuten ID, a core component of the Rakuten Ecosystem, the two companies will co-create a new value powered by one of the largest loyalty point programs in Japan, Rakuten Points.
Starting today, various systems within Uber Japan would incorporate the shared point service by Rakuten Payment. Consumers who link their Rakuten ID to either the Uber or Uber Eats app will earn Rakuten Points.
Remember, this partnership is not the first. Uber has been partnered with Rakuten to introduce cashless payments. This is more than just to impress, but a way to ease inflation using Uber’s services, so consumers could earn Rakuten Points.
Rakuten Points are the loyalty currency in the Rakuten online ecosystem in Japan, or cash-back rewards in the United States, earned from shopping, using Rakuten services – travel, mobile, and banking – or even surveys. These are redeemable for purchases, discounts, or direct payments across various integrated services.
Through this strategic and strengthened partnership, users with Rakuten ID could leverage the platform’s big data assets, which would result in more tailored recommendations and promotional information for users. Together, there are new experiences that make your orders of food and road trips even more convenient and rewarding.
Plus, this partnership also initiates the “Earn up to 1,000 Points by Linking Your Rakuten ID with Uber,” which is running until December 22nd.
The campaign will have the first hundreds of thousands of users who link their Rakuten ID to the Uber Japan app to earn lots of Rakuten Points. Also, spending more for your rides will give the chance for you to earn Rakuten points as well.
Rakuten and Uber Japan will continue strengthening their strategic partnership, and further expanding collaboration between the wide range of services that the Rakuten and Uber Japan ecosystems offer. Together, they co-create new values that provide a more convenient and rewarding way to support your lifestyle and elevate these businesses at the same time.
To conclude this news, Uber Japan does things uniquely. It partners with around 1,000 taxi operators across the country, offering the Uber Taxi service in a whopping 45 Prefectures. Uber Premium in Japan, furthermore, serves most of the Tokyo area, specifically Narita, Kyoto, Osaka, and Fukuoka, letting users request premium hire vehicles and wagons for up to five passengers.
Did you know that Uber Japan also has the Communal Rideshare feature, available in Kyoto Prefecture, Kaga City in Ishikawa Prefecture, the Nozawa Onsen area in Nagano Prefecture, and Beppu City in Oita Prefecture? So, Rakuten just made the right choice. Impressive.
