Who’s bad! It may be your customer’s pet. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the USA, around 4,000 animal rabies cases are reported every year, so delivery platforms like Amazon Flex are not keeping these off the charts.
Recently, Amazon launched its Safe Pets, Safe Communities campaign, designed to help keep delivery partners safer when they need to deliver to customers who own pets.
Admit it or not, true, some dogs may jump on and play with you, worse, even bite you, and you don’t know what kind of animals are inside the customers’ house. What if it’s a crocodile, or a tiger! Possible, right?
“Your safety is our priority. With warmer weather ahead, we wanted to share our top recommendations to make deliveries safer when a pet is present,” Amazon Flex chatted with Ridesharing Forum.
Under this campaign, there will be a series of messages encouraging you to contact customers if you feel unsafe due to the pet’s presence. You have the right to do so.
A Southeast Asian driver for USA-based ridesharing app InDrive once encountered an upcoming booking over the app wherein the passenger looking for a ride informed the driver through the app prior to everything that they got cats on board, if the driver will accept the ride. It’s the right thinking for the passenger to note that on the space provided on the app, since what if the driver has pet allergies, or something?
To enable this choice on the Amazon Flex app, look for the paw print icon, and the app will show delivery stops with dogs.
An advertisement video for this newest feature is also available for viewing on the official Amazon newsroom. The ads are also spread across Amazon video streaming platforms, Amazon music, and so much more.
It encourages Amazon and Amazon Flex customers to put pets on a leash before the delivery driver arrives, since there are times when the driver really needs to go inside the house if delivering a huge package, like a coffee maker, or a vacuum cleaner. Actually, it remains the responsibility of customers to secure these pets for the safety of the driver.
Furthermore, they may also update delivery instructions on the Amazon official app to notify drivers if there are pets in the delivery point, or their house or residence.
And, there are more within the Amazon Flex app to push for this campaign. On the app is a Learning Portal that includes helpful suggestions on how to avoid dogs during deliveries. Access this by processing to Staying Safe, then What to Do, if there are dogs in the residence or the point of delivery. This shall help you respond confidently if dogs are around.
More tips, always, always check and read the notes from the customer. If there are no notes and there are pets around, look for clues first that a pet may be present, such as food trays and water bowls, then take advantage of the “Amazon delivery” option on the app. Or, as early as from your car, tap “Contact Customer” to ask for the pet to be put on a leash, or be secured, or suggest a safe alternate delivery location. You may also hit Driver Support.
Another best thing that has come. Drivers have the choice not to deliver the package. Look for the Unable to deliver, then Unsafe due to dog, and return the package to the pick-up location. In conclusion, Amazon Flex has made its app even more useful for drivers who may feel unsafe around with pets. For more delivery news, keep it locked right here!
