Call them late in action, but Uber Electric is here, it’s finally here.
In a recent press release on Uber’s newsroom official, Uber Electric was unveiled.
“The future is electric, and it’s gaining speed on Uber,” the ridesharing app stated. Over the past five years, we’ve become the most widely available platform for EV rides in the world, with Uber drivers going electric up to 5x faster than the average motorist in the US, Canada, and Europe. Today, there are over 200,000 EV drivers on our platform globally, taking millions of zero-emissions trips. And one in four riders says their first-ever EV ride was on Uber.”
Uber added that this electrification was unveiled to “keep the momentum going… for both riders and drivers. What do these mean?
The app first recalled how they took big steps with Uber Green, making it 100 percent electric in the United States earlier this year. Today, they are matching that progress by re-branding Uber Green to Uber Electric, “making it even easier for riders everywhere to take emissions-free rides.”
Plus, riders could get up to a whopping 10 percent off their next Electric ride with the code GOELECTRIC20, in order to celebrate this milestone. This is valid for only seven days, though, so hurry, hurry.
“Go Electric” grants were also launched, which give drivers $4,000 to switch to an electric vehicle. These grants are available for both new and used EV for drivers in New York City, California, Colorado, and Massachusetts.
“Additionally, Uber drivers nationwide will also receive $1,000 with any EV purchased through TrueCar,” Uber further noted. How about that?
Apart of those, Uber is also expanding their battery-aware matching feature to already include the biggest EV manufacturers globally, such as Kia, Hyundai, Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Mercedez-Benz. Big names, big names. They are launched this battery-related feature to across 25 countries in Canada, Europe, and the United States, too.
This is among the most requested features among Uber’s EV drivers, and it guarantees that drivers are only matched with trips their current battery range can complete.
“Uber Electric is another step in our journey toward a cleaner, more connected future, making all-electric trips the easy choice. Of course, we can’t get there alone, and progress will continue to depend on collective action and partnership across the industry,” Uber asserted.
The benefits of electric cars cannot be discredited. Electric vehicles offer numerous benefits for individuals and the environment. They produce zero tailpipe emissions, reducing air pollution and contributing to cleaner cities.
Operating costs are lower since electricity is cheaper than gasoline, and maintenance needs are reduced due to fewer moving parts. Electric vehicles (EVs) also promote energy independence by decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.
Authorities provide tax incentives and rebates for EV purchases, making them more affordable. In addition, electric cars operate quietly, reducing noise pollution. As renewable energy sources expand, charging EVs becomes even more sustainable, too, take note. For more ridesharing news, keep browsing this Ridesharing Forum website.
