Let’s untangle the maze that’s the business between Uber and Delivery Hero.
Recent reports on ridesharing media stated Delivery Hero has confirmed it is in favor of the almost $15 billion – around $14.8 billion – takeover bid from Uber.
Not Delivery Hero per se, but its board, TechCrunch pointed out. The company advised shareholders to accept this, advancing the planned team-up of two of the world’s leading food delivery apps.
In a previous report of Ridesharingforum.com, Uber has subtly confirmed it is taking over Delivery Hero.
“Delivery Hero welcomes Uber’s additional investment as a further endorsement of its platform and Everyday App strategy. The Company remains focused on driving operational performance and executing on the strategic review to deliver long-term value for all shareholders,” Delivery Hero told the RSF team that time.
However, it is interesting to note that it seems the deal has not yet been closed, since there are stories like this erupting.
Another story here on this newsroom stated that Uber is now the partial owner of Deliver Hero.
Analysts from JPMorgan Chase & Co., a multinational banking institution, chatted with RSF regarding that news, stating, "While Uber’s ultimate intentions on further stake-building remain unclear, we view the move as a clear endorsement of the strategic attractiveness of Delivery Hero’s asset base for Uber.”
This day, the German delivery company stated its management and supervisory boards had already independently reviewed the offer of the American giant.
“They deem the offer to be in the best interest of the Company, its shareholders, employees and other stakeholders,” Delivery Hero stated now. “They therefore support the offer and recommend that Delivery Hero shareholders accept it.”
They added that their boards "share Uber’s view that the combination has the potential to accelerate product innovation and create significant additional opportunities for employees, customers, merchants, riders, drivers, and other stakeholders,”
Whichever the reason why this deal has not yet been completely closed yet, it is a mystery.
See? This proposed team-up would mark fresh consolidation in the food delivery industry. Other companies like this are also into deals like this, such as between DoorDash and Deliveroo.
TechCrunch further noted that this tie-up is the latest sample of consolidation in the on-demand delivery industry, such as what’s going on in the Asian continent, concerning their apps of this kind.
