Thank You To DoorDash, The Valentine’s Day This Year Is Bound To Get More Memorable

DoorDash is playing mathematician (or statistician, maybe?) for Valentine’s Day 2026. Oh, it seems only as if it was… last year? Though the food delivery app sounded so confusing in its latest news and insight in its official newsroom, it only wants to show you that hey, “America is celebrating modern love.” Celebrating, at that.

“Move over, Cupid - DoorDash is officially taking over date night,” the app wrote. “We dove into millions of orders to uncover exactly how America is celebrating, and 2025 data proves that Valentine’s Day has evolved into a celebration of love in every form…”

First and foremost, early is the name of the game. DoorDash stated that over a whopping 80 percent of flower orders were placed on Valentine’s Day! At least, it isn’t like, “Sorry, honey, I bought these flowers today because I don’t love you.”

Also, couples during Valentine’s Day now prefer dating over food at home, instead of traveling to their favorite restaurants, maybe while watching “K-Pop Demon Hunters” or “Squid Game” on Netflix?

So, that means incredible deliveries. Well, even if those are as luxurious as lobsters, scallops, steaks, oysters, and sushi, couples are willing to spend on them.

Interestingly enough, couples are also turning to food delivery platforms like DoorDash for grocery deliveries. It’s weird. An Asian mom in her 60s who has spent part of her life in the state of California may not see the niceness in ordering groceries from food delivery apps, but there are others who would, especially in America, of course.

The DoorDash report has stated grocery delivery orders jumped over 60 percent on love-day than the average day, with the popular items still being scallops, steak, and lobster. Add to those a bottle of wine.

Consumers are also willing to invest in meal prep items through food delivery apps.

“Beyond the expected demand for chocolate (over 260 percent), carts were filled with aphrodisiacs and bubbles designed to ignite the passion, including Rosé Champagne (over around 190 percent), Prosecco (over 120 percent), and oysters (over around 50 percent),” DoorDash told Ridesharing Forum.

Aside from those DoorDash is also playing rather a bit nosy, as they unveiled the Top 5, not Top 7, most intimate states, and they are: Nevada, Maryland, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Utah. Sadly, New York isn’t there. Too engrossed in the corporate world?

On the other hand, the most romantic states are the Blue Hen State, the Oyster State, the Buckeye State, the Ocean State, and the Wolverine State.

“We also discovered the states that prefer to keep things traditional, showering their loved ones with classics like flowers, chocolates, plushies, and balloons,” DoorDash stated further. “While love is in the air everywhere, these were the locations turning to DoorDash most to play modern-day cupid on Valentine’s Day on a per-capita orders basis.”

Plus, the food delivery app is also the go-to for students who want to gift chocolates to their puppy love. For more food delivery news, keep browsing this site, or sign up for your account today to dive right into the discussion.
