Southeast Asian Actress Crying Over foodpanda Driver Who ‘Scammed Her,’ Wants Probe

foodpanda drivers who fail to successfully deliver their customers’ orders are a common sight. So, this isn’t an isolated case. But, what if the customer is a celebrity? Read on for the story.

Appalled

The popularity of food delivery services is urging not only the general public and the average person to try them, but also celebrities who are more likely to get signed up to endorse those brands rather than spend money on them.

However, this actress from the Philippines, Carla Abellana, wanted an investigation of foodpanda, one of the leading food delivery apps in Southeast Asia, due to the failure of the rider to deliver her order, which had already been paid for.

The 38-year-old actress from one of the leading TV networks in the Southeast Asian country took to social media to air her grievance.

“I just got scammed by a foodpanda_ph Rider. Not only did he fail to deliver our paid order, but a supposed second Rider called me to say he was delivering our order but i needed to pay COD. Huwow,” she posted.

Customers can pay as they check out their orders, usually via credit or debit card, or any other method indicated on the platform. Sometimes, they may choose cash on delivery to be sure the right order will arrive prior to payment.

Abellana’s most notable act was reprising the role of Rosalinda Perez or Paloma Dorantes in the Philippine adaptation of the hit Mexicanovela, “Rosalinda,” originally played by Thalia. This was actually her biggest break before being granted several other projects.

Support from people

Abellana got support from her friends, such as Filipino chef and restaurateur Jacqueline Laudico, who said these were “a recurring scam.”

“It’s been a recurring scam. I hope foodpanda_ph implements security measures right away,” the chef commented on the actress’ post.

The actress later revealed she had already been refunded, but she insisted on investigating “the scam.”
