The Dubai International Airport is named as one of this year’s best airports by Travel + Leisure, ranking at fifth, with a score of 91.06! SKYTRAX also hails it one of the best, ranking it as 13th. These two websites crown Singapore’s Changi Airport as the number one.
For such an airport that’s among the best of the best, the facilities have to also be world-class.
Dubai International Airport is the flagship and leading airport of the United Arab Emirates, serving Dubai, this Middle Eastern country, and is pegging as the world’s busiest airport, too.
This airport features three main terminals and amenities, including high-speed free Wi-Fi, luxurious duty-free shopping, sleep pods and cabins, dedicated airline and ridesharing waiting lounges, direct Dubai Metro links, and even shower facilities.
Recently, a brand-new facility that been added to this star airport, and those are the dedicated waiting lounge exclusively for Careem and Uber passengers at the terminal’s main ride-hailing location for pick-up.
This space is for passengers who are hailing Careem and Uber rides, giving them a safe and convenient place to wait until their rides arrive.
This facility is particularly of great use during the intense summer season in Dubai, as the lounge is completely-equipped with air-conditioning and seating away from the outdoor pick-up area. A great place to chit-chat with your friends and relatives traveling with you, or to start small conversations with your fellow travelers.
Furthermore, instead of waiting at the curb, standing up, passengers can sit inside the dedicated facility. Since it is located near the pick-up point, travelers won’t need to move far when their ride arrives.
This also helps keep passengers safe as they are away from moving vehicles outside the airport. It also promotes support for smoother traffic around the pick-up area.
For Careem Comfort and UberX, special editions of the ridesharing apps, the facility also includes an organized queueing system, as well as a security code dispatch, making things way, way safer.
“Dubai International, or DXB, is the first point of contact for millions of visitors each year, and it is here that their first impression of the city’s high-quality services begins. This partnership between Dubai Airports and Uber reflects Dubai’s approach of working as a team to continuously enhance the experience of visitors from around the world,” His Excellency Saeed AlNazari, Secretary General of the Dubai Civility Committee, told Ridesharingforum.com. “Dubai offers the world an exceptional model of civility, beginning from the moment of arrival and extending across every aspect of the city, where service excellence, seamless experiences, and attention to detail come together to define the quality of life Dubai represents.”
Aside from the air-conditioners and air purifiers, there are also comfortable seats to accommodate travelers with bigger bags. There are also raised tables, should they want to sip coffee, or drink beer while waiting, or use high-chairs for toddlers. There are also charging stations for gadgets that have run out of battery.
“For millions of travelers, the journey begins the moment they arrive in Dubai, and we want that first welcome to feel effortless, reassuring, and unmistakably Dubai. By working in close collaboration with our partners, we’re creating a smoother, more seamless experience beyond the terminal doors, helping guests move with greater ease and comfort through one of the world’s busiest international airports. This initiative is a powerful example of what we can deliver together: an arrival that is welcoming, well-organized, and worthy of Dubai,” stated Majed Al Joker, the COO of Dubai Airports.
