Some retailers on Shopify, the word-of-mouth platform of professionals in the USA, are now on DoorDash! RSF has more.
DoorDash x Shopify
Retailers who are on Shopify are now given the option to provide on-demand deliveries to their customers via DoorDash.
Yes, DoorDash is mainly a food delivery app, but they recently released an integration designed to offer these Shopify retailers a direct, seamless path to integrate with the food delivery application. This on-demand delivery platform is now available as a native sales channel inside the Shopify app store. Interesting!
The dashing Mike Goldblatt, deputy for enterprise partnerships at DoorDash, stated, “If it’s in your area, it’s on DoorDash. That’s the promise driving today’s news. Local, independent retailers are the heart of local commerce, and they deserve tools that work as hard as they do. As the first on-demand marketplace that Shopify merchants can activate directly from their existing Shopify admin, we’re opening the door to retail merchants who can now reach their communities faster than ever.”
This means that all Shopify retailers with a brick-and-mortar presence in the United States can starting adding their product catalog to the DoorDash shop through enabling a brand-new channel without a separate onboarding process, manual catalog uploads, and disruption to existing operations.
Thankful
Of course, Shopify is thankful.
“Merchants want to sell wherever their customers are, and increasingly that means meeting them with speed and convenience,” pointed out Atlee Clark, partnerships deputy at Shopify. “This integration puts local retailers in front of millions of DoorDash shoppers and turns same-day demand into sales, all managed inside Shopify.”
Self-serve integration onboarding is built directly into the Shopify experience, so this cuts the setup time from weeks to days. The retailers manage their Shopify catalog, syncing items and inventory automatically, so when a customer orders a Shopify item listed already on DoorDash, the matching occurs.
The in-depth story
Now, for the in-depth story. RSF looked further into the matter, hearing Goldblatt saying that this partnership is a significant step towards connecting customers to their neighborhood.
“If you look at our selection on the platform – in retail specifically, over the last couple of years – it’s been your larger enterprise players, your Home Depots, your Sephoras, and so on,” he stated. “And with this, we’re really starting to unlock nearby commerce.”
Shopify is the platform used by Internet-based businesses in the United States. Shopify is a cloud-based eCommerce platform that enables people and businesses to create, manage, and grow online stores without extensive technical knowledge.
Here, these merchants can customize storefronts, add products, process orders, accept payments, and track inventory from a centralized dashboard. Shopify likewise integrates with shipping providers, marketing tools, and third-party applications to streamline operations. Customers browse products, place orders, and complete secure checkouts, while merchants manage sales across websites, social networks, and physical retail locations.
