Your Saturday, Saturday activities will need to get re-checked now that San Diego authorities are implementing a restriction on pick-ups through ridesharing.
The affected area is the Gaslamp Quarter.
The Gaslamp Quarter is a historic 16-block entertainment and dining district in downtown San Diego in California. Located between Broadway and Harbor Drive, and the 4th and 6th Avenues, it features over 90 preserved Victorian-era buildings alongside modern skyscrapers, and serves as the epicenter for the city’s nightlife and dining scene lifestyle.
The authorities stated that to address crowds and traffic congestion on this upcoming busy weekend, people will not be able to wait for Lyft and Uber pick-ups on Fifth Avenue between Market and E. Street from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., or hours during night parties and the aftermath.
But that does not mean they cannot get home through ridesharing. Instead, these passengers are to be directed to designated pick-up locations beyond a geo-fenced area.
Nice news, though. Passengers may still be dropped off within the area restricted during the specified times, as enumerated below:
- 600 block of Market Street, north side
- 600 block of 7th Avenue, east side
- 600 block of 6th Avenue, west side
- 600 block of 6th Avenue, east side
- 600 block of G Street, north side
- 700 block of 6th Avenue, east side
- 600 block of F Street, north side
- 800 block of 7th Avenue, east side
- 400 block of E Street, south side
- 400 block of E Street, north side
- 800 block of 4th Avenue, east side
- 700 block of 4th Avenue, west side
- 700 block of 4th Avenue, east side
- 600 block of 4th Avenue, east side
Don’t worry, since transportation department officials made it easier for you to identify the designated pick-up locations. San Diego has painted the curbs at the pick-up locations, as well as installed signages to help identify these allowed locations beyond the restricted area.
