Rapido News Carousel: Driver’s Touching Note, Online Debate Over Fare Top-Ups

Ridesharing Forum is starting the week right with a news round-up for Rapido. The first is about a driver’s touching note for a passenger, and the second is a fueling online debate on forceful additional charges. Read on.

Touching note from Rapido driver

There are some moments when people couldn’t help but travel in the wee hours of the night. Just like this woman in Bengaluru, a famous destination in India, who did not hesitate to post the video of her driver, handing her a note to ensure her safety.

This woman was reportedly traveling home at midnight in a Rapido vehicle in the city who showed a handwritten note pasted inside the vehicle. It reads, “I’m a father and brother too. Your safety matters. Sit back comfortably.”

The video caught the attention of Instagram users, with one sharing the video with the caption, “Bangalore Vibes.”

That note may not be exclusively directed at her as every passenger who rides the vehicle can read it, but this simple gesture is enough for a woman who fears traveling during midnight.

"It’s 12 in the night, and I am travelling in a Rapido auto, and then I read this, and now I am actually feeling safe,” the woman stated in the video.

As usual, the netizens love what she shared.

One of them wrote, "I know this city from the last 20 years! It is the safest city for everyone,” while another wrote, “This is what we want, and exactly what we should do.”

Others stated these small gestures and act make late-night road travels feel safer, especially for women around the city.

Online Rapido debate

Meanwhile, in other Rapido news, netizens are fuming and angered online after a passenger in Ahmedabad accused a Rapido driver of forcing them to pay extra, sparking a wave of conversation on who’s right and who’s wrong.

“Today’s airport ride turned into a shocking safety lesson. A driver mismatch, a car without a number plate, forced extra charges, public abuse, and intimidation all during a simple Rapido booking,” the uploader of the video wrote in the caption. “Grateful to Rapido Support for stepping in, but incidents like this demand strict action and stronger passenger safety measures. Sharing my experience so others stay alert. Stay aware. Stay safe. (emojis)”

The Instagram clip has garnered over 1,000 likes, as of press time. The passenger is also the uploader who recounted his experience, alleging that the driver even sought more than the $5 fare as the app indicated. Usually, if a taxi is connected with a ridesharing app, the price from the meter would be added to the price on the app, but here, things are different.

"This incident happened today in @ahmairport in Gujrat… There was no Toll Charge at Airport and this driver didn’t pay the Parking fee yet, he dropped me off right in the middle of the journey without completing the ride and he extorted an extra [$4.42] over an above the [$5] ride cost until my destination. But, thanks to @rapidoapp they quickly resolved the issue and refunded [$4] back into my wallet. Thank you Rapido!” the passenger also wrote on Instagram.

Others say the extra fees are required, while others sided with the passenger.

A royal move from the Rapido app. The Ridesharing Forum team is wishing for your safety this week.
