Ridesharing Forum has been following Lyft’s previous announcement that it is arriving in Puerto Rico. The promising features and perks unveiled during that time were PIN verification, audio recording, share location, emergency 911 help, and smart trip check-in, among others.
If that does not appear to be good news for you, then you’ll love this: Lyft is now available in the Caribbean nation! Reading that right, yes.
Lyft became available in Puerto Rico on July 8th, the plaform’s official newsroom revealed.
“Puerto Rico has a rich transportation ecosystem, and we are excited to complement it by providing another great option to help connect riders with the places and people they love,” stated Audrey Liu, the executive in-charge of rider experiences and the safety of the community at Lyft. “More than anything, we are excited to help connect communities across the island, giving them another great way to get around.”
Starting that time, riders can book Lyft rides so they can travel across Puerto Rico. Whether they are exploring the scenic coastal roads in Rincón, Ceiba, and Ponce, heading to the mountains in Cayey, or commuting to and from work in and around San Juan, Bayamón, and Carolina, Lyft Puerto Rico will now get them where they need to go safely and affordably.
Puerto Rico’s government is happy. Jenniffer Colón, the archipelago’s governor, stated, “The arrival of Lyft in Puerto Rico strengthens our transportation infrastructure and expands our mobility options. This new alternative not only benefits tourists, who are already familiar with and trust the brand, but also represents a direct benefit for our residents by offering them a more accessible, reliable, and modern way to get around in their daily lives.”
For Puerto Rico’s Department of Economic Development and Commerce, Lyft’s successful arrival further strengthens the island’s road infrastructure while also boosting its digital economy.
Plus, they stated how this operation will create more opportunities for local drivers and entrepreneurs, “while offering an accessible transportation alternative for residents and visitors alike.”
“… We value the interest of companies like Lyft that recognize Puerto Rico as a dynamic environment with opportunities for technological and economic growth,” Sebastián Negrón Reichard, the secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, noted.
For Lyft’s official media, the platform is all about serving and connecting, but everything should start with safety.
“That’s why we’ve created always-on proactive safety measures and real human support that starts before you get in, as well as customizable in-ride safety tools for added peace of mind, they shared.
That shall offer you more reasons to go to Puerto Rico. Share your thoughts about this news! Sign up for your account today on Ridesharing Forum.
