Postmates has finally spoken! It has been silent in the past several months, unless RSF website would feature their coupons, it got a little nervous there, but they got it. Its words are reverberating like a grizzly bear! It has recently unveiled its first-ever Postie Awards. Ridesharing Forum has more.
The Postie Awards, or more colloquially known as The Posties, is a set of awards for restaurants by Postmates to recognize the best and the finest delivery-only dining experiences.
While traditional restaurant awards pay homage to dine-in experiences, this particular award-giving body celebrates the reckoning and booming “off-premise” dining sector, or kitchens and restaurants that ace deliveries more than in-dine experiences.
People’s Choice, Industry Picks
In this year’s inaugural edition, Postmates analyzed over 11 million Los Angeles delivery orders to select the best restaurants in this California city, based upon the votes of five million diners.
There are two categories: the People’s Choice and the industry picks.
For the People’s Choice, the winners are: Alfred Coffee, All About the Bread, Bossa Nova, Cafe, Gratitude, Cafe Los Feliz, Calif Chicken Cafe, Carla Cafe, Cilantro Mexican Grill, Erewhon, Fresh Corn Grill, Ggiata Delicatessan, Goop Kitchen, Granville, Homestate, Howlin’ Ray’s, Hugo’s, Katsu-Ya, King Taco, Kismet Rotisserie, Loqui, Organico, Seaweed Handroll Bar, Sqirl, Stanley’s, Sugarfish, Tocaya Modern Mexican, and Urth Caffe.
Meanwhile, Avi Cue, Bludso’s Bbq, Bravo Toast, Canter’s Deli, Cheesesteaks By Matu, Chin Chin, Cobi’s, Cofax, Dialog Cafe, Din Tai Fung, Escuela Taqueria, Heavy Handed, Hiho Cheeseburger, Kazunori, Leora Cafe, Pizzana, Porto’s, Prime Pizza, Sweet Butter Kitchen, Tartine, Tatsu Ramen, The Cheese Store Of Beverly Hills, Uncle Paulie’s, and Uovo are the Industry Picks.
You can see that the names of the restaurants are mostly unfamiliar to you unless you head over to the Postmates app, and check out their food items, and it’s meant to be that way. These awards are designed to give tribute not to the famous restaurants like Taco Bell or McDonald’s, but those that are better at delivering to your doorsteps.
Ordering trends of Californians
The Postie Awards also offered a bonus, revealing the ordering habits lately on the Postmates app. Most demand for orders happen between 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and during the weekends.
Diners in Long Beach and downtown Los Angeles tend to order midnight snacks, according to Postmates data, while those in the Palisades are early risers, ordering morning meals.
However, Los Angeles customers tend to dislike onions, tomatoes, and cheese — the three most-omitted ingredients in the orders — while “well-done” and “spicy” are common requests, like a true American and Korean. Meanwhile, West Coast customers’ most-ordered categories are along the lines of American, breakfast, healthy, and Asian cuisines. Care to share your comments?
