Postmates In Collab With Howlin’ Ray’s Restau, This Long Beach Rapper For Pop-Up Kitchen

The world doesn’t hear so much about Postmates, but whenever it’s in the news, let’s take advantage of this opportunity to listen to what they’re about to say.

Pop-up kitchens are literally everywhere nowadays. These kitchens, also referred to as pop-up restaurants, are temporary establishments, mostly, often operating from a private home, a former factory, existing restaurants, or similar spaces, or during festivals or events. They are also called guerrilla diners and underground supper clubs.

According to data published in Accio, the market of pop-up kitchens globally is projected to reach a whopping $1.2 billion this year. This growth, the statistics added, is driven by shifting consumer preferences towards experiential dining and the rise of social media marketing, including those on Instagram.

So, Postmates wants to make sure it is in every pop-up kitchen action. The food delivery app has signed a deal with Warren G and Howlin’ Ray’s for a pop-up kitchen dedicated to Long Beach food lovers.

Warren G, though not as popular as Flo Rida or Eminem, is quite famous in Long Beach. He is a rapper, songwriter, record producer, and DJ who helped catapult West Coast hip-hop during the 90s. He is also regarded as the pioneer of G-funk, attaining mainstream success with his 1994 single titled “Regulate.” Could he rap with Katy Perry for “California Gurls”?

Postmates chose the perfect artist to partner with. Warren G told the media that he took inspiration from his dad’s cooking when he started their barbecue brand.

Growing up, he stated how he enjoyed watching his father cook.

“The flavor of the smoke on the meat and just the good feeling of having family around caught me up and rang a bell in my head,” the rapper told Ridesharing Forum. “As I got older, all I wanted to do was be like my dad on the smoker and grill because it reminded me of his morals and good family fun.”

Meanwhile, Howlin’ Ray’s is a Los Angeles-based Nashville hot chicken restaurant. Don’t be confused because Nashville hot chicken is a food in itself. Basically, it is a spicy, fried chicken dish from Nashville, Tennessee, hence its name – known for its intense heat, which comes from a cayenne pepper-infused paste or sauce that is slathered over the chicken after frying. Sounds like a delicious cuisine.

Before getting to Long Beach, Howlin’ Ray’s has been serving other locations as well. However, people in Long Beach craved for their food since 2018. The restaurant also made its name by serving fiery chicken in Chinatown in the vicinity, but Chinatown is too far for Long Beach residents. Now, their dream has come to reality.

“We’re excited to finally give them a unique experience that’s exclusive to the city that they call home,” Tess Meza, the restaurant coordinator in Long Beach, stated.

The rapper was introduced to Howlin’ Ray’s through Bad Lucc, another rapper who is also Warren G’s friend. Bad Lucc previously collaborated with Howlin’ Ray’s, floating the idea of Warren G and his barbecue sauce brand. Yes, it’s a BBQ sauce brand.

“I knew I was down once I tried their sandwiches and knew it paired well with my Sniffin Griffin BBQ sauce,” Warren G pointed out.

The exclusive menu will be available on Postmates until today, October 12th. Customers could choose from these combo meal options:

  • The quarter set for $27, which includes six chicken wings, a choice of side, three sauces, and a drink
  • The full plate for $47, which includes six chicken wings, a side of collard greens, honey butter glazed hush puppies, banana pudding, three sauces, and an exclusive sticker set
  • The LBC VIP for $75, which includes everything in the full plate meal plus an exclusive T-shirt

Be sure to find these in the category “Howlin’ Ray’s Long Beach” on Postmates.

They may also order banana pudding and extra sauces separately for $7 and $3, respectively. All the chicken wings are fried in refined peanut oil, and meals come with a mixture of drums and flats. Check for food allergies.

“We’ve been fans of Howlin’ Ray’s since they first opened and bumping Warren G forever, so bringing them together just made sense. It’s Long Beach through and through: good food, good music, good energy,” the brand marketing manager Jasmin Booker emphasized.

Howlin’ Ray’s told Ridesharing Forum they are open to doing more kitchen pop-ups in other cities in the future. For more food delivery news, keep browsing this site.
