This Monday, September 7th, USA is celebrating Labor Day. It is a federal holiday that gives tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers, and those working for the United States.
During this time, people conduct cook-outs, parades, community festivals, and end-of-summer sales. It’s also a time for these people to visit their relatives, and attend events.
This is why drunk driving can be rampant throughout Labor Day celebrations.
According to the website Traffic Safety Marketing, in 2023, during the Labor Day holiday, over 500 drivers were killed in traffic crashes, and 33 percent of these people were alcohol-impaired.
This does not have to happen. So, in Ohio, particularly in Franklin County, drivers can get a free ride home in the efforts of Ohio’s government officials, or the Birthplace of Aviation, the Buckeye State, to curb impaired driving.
The Ohio Traffic Safety Office will offer free Lyft trips through a code that can be redeemed between 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. this day, Friday, up until Labor Day, as long as the destination is within Franklin County.
