Nobody should get jealous due to this. It’s official! Grubhub is taking away the persistent, whimsical, and poor policy of charges for orders above $50 on the app.
“We really want to disrupt the industry,” the CEO of Grubhub, Howard Migdal, told Ridesharing Forum. “And when we talk to customers, high fees are the number one dissatisfaction, by far and away, with our industry. For too long, ordering delivery has come with sticker shock. Today, we’re changing that by fundamentally [rethinking how delivery pricing functions] and placing [several hundreds] of millions of dollars [back into the customers].”
The food delivery app is eating the fees on restaurant orders of $50 or more. Unlike a temporary promotion, the company seeks for this no-fee benefit to be a permanent fixation regarding its business model.
Several customers find themselves shocked by these required fees upon checkout. Grubhub stated that the average combined fees for orders above $50 across the biggest delivery platforms are estimated $13.
The company also estimates that a family, for instance, placing one order a week could save a massive $675 yearly under this new structure.
Grubhub is going to be a major player in the highly-anticipated Super Bowl LX. In line with the sports show, where Bad Bunny is showcasing his talent, the food delivery app is rolling out some “stackable discounts” until February 8th.
Ridesharing media are abuzz, saying that customers may combine the no-fee benefit that would be unveiled via its Super Bowl ad, on $50 orders with certain deals from big chains, including a $20 discount at Chipotle and Burger King, and $15 discount at Taco Bell and Popeyes. Marvelous!
These perks and offers will also get extended until March in restaurants such as KFC, Papa Johns, and Buffalo Wild Wings to keep the momentum after the Super Bowl LX games.
