News Round-Up For foodpanda: Doubles Businesses In Pakistan, Honors Drivers In Singapore

It’s time for a brand-new round-up for foodpanda, one of the leading delivery platforms in Southeast Asia! It seeks to double its business outside the region, particularly in Pakistan. And, find out how it has honored its drivers as part of the National Day celebrations in Singapore.

Doubling its business in Pakistan

Berlin-based foodpanda, but has its operations in Singapore, is not allowing competition to strangle, just by situating its business in Southeast Asia, now that it seeks to expand further in the South Asian nation of Pakistan.

foodpanda is looking at increasing its gross merchandise value in the South Asian country by up to 100 percent to 2028, Bloomberg stated in its news report.

“We have enough people who think digital first – when they think about food, they don’t think about calling up a restaurant,” foodpanda Pakistan head Muntaqa Peracha pinpointed. “You need to have a bit of patience to go through the peaks and the troughs and just survive. So we are figuring out what we can do as an organisation to show that Pakistan still has potential.”

Peracha added that the anticipated economic growth in the country is projected to support foodpanda’s efforts to attract more users and bolster order volumes across the 35 cities it operates across the globe.

While this Delivery Hero company has its strong presence in Asia, it still faces tough competition from companies such as Meituan in mainland China and Grab in the rest of Southeast Asia.

The foodpanda Pakistan lead further stated that the country is “in a promising growth market.”

This expansion is believed to be continuing the company’s fight along Pakistan’s challenging economic environment, marred by high inflation, leading to the closure of apps like Uber in the country.

Happy National Day from foodpanda!

Being a Singapore-run delivery platform, foodpanda has honored its drivers by launching a series of initiatives to recognize and uplift the morale of its delivery partners.

The prizes included around S$16,000 in education bursaries, dollar-for-dollar tip matching, and expanded road safety training. This is part of the company’s campaign to honor everyday heroes.

“Singapore’s 60th birthday is a meaningful milestone to honour our delivery partners, who show up every day – rain or shine – to bring convenience and comfort to homes across the city. This year, we’re doing even more to say thank you,” stated Bhavani Mishra, the managing director of foodpanda Singapore.

Aside from that, foodpanda Singapore also recognized around 30 outstanding delivery partners, awarding them for their exceptional service and contributions to the community.

Over 700 attendees from those partners received goodie bags containing safety and rider essentials, such as rain jackets, road emergency toolkits, first-aid kits, sunscreen, neck fans, and Coca-Cola products, even.
